Chief Investment Officer

POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Investment Officer will report to the CEO and Executive VP of the company. The position is responsible for the firm’s investment management platforms and portfolios which includes review of capital market expectations, manager selection and monitoring, and portfolio construction. Additionally, the CIO will lead a team of analysts and direct all investment activities of the firm.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Chair of Vicus Capital Investment Committee – On a monthly basis, present to the committee a review of: Managed Solutions Division composite performance, competitive performance, asset class research, review and update buy/sell security list, and asset allocation attribution analysis

• Create strategic and tactical investment platforms, evaluate and enhance platforms as needed, as well as build and identify the best execution instruments for those investment platforms

• Lead the Investment Management Research (IMR) team and oversee the Trading Desk

• Conduct due diligence on and form relationships with money managers utilized in portfolio construction; including but not limited to: mutual funds, ETFs/ETNs and separate account managers

• Execute asset allocation, portfolio construction and tactical positioning

• Make presentations to clients and advisors on investment strategy, tactical portfolio positioning and macroeconomics via webinar, written reports, and meetings

• Third party money manager liaison

• Qualified plan platform liaison

• Oversight of written investment proposals

• Familiar with EDGAR filings and GIPS certification process

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience Requirements

The successful candidate will be a seasoned, experienced investment executive with a minimum of 15 years related experience ideally with a successful money management firm. They should have proven experience in managing people, programs and processes, as well as very strong proficiency in fixed income, equity investments, and stock selection (e.g. stock and bond portfolio management). The candidate must also be able to develop both short and long-term investment policies and have experience in investing portfolios in both strategic and tactical platforms.

Education Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in business administration, economics or finance complemented by a Master’s degree (a plus) with an emphasis on finance or economics. A CFA designation and a 65 registration or appropriate exemption are required in addition to 15 years of work experience with a leading institution.

Senior Portfolio Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Portfolio Manager will report to the Chief Investment Officer and serve as a member of the investment management & research (IMR) team. The position requires a passion for investing and solid knowledge of global financial markets. This individual should have a keen interest in customized asset allocation for high net worth individuals. In particular, the individual will be involved in generating investment proposals, trading, and rebalancing client accounts. The individual will also play a collaborative role in our due diligence efforts at it relates to various types of investment vehicles, including mutual funds, ETFs, and separately managed accounts. In addition to strong analytical skills, the individual needs to possess strong communication skills. The individual should also have a demonstrated ability to develop and support clear and concise opinions regarding investments and ongoing industry developments.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Member of the investment management & research team and investment committee.

• Create customized proposals and portfolios primarily for high net worth individuals.

• Participate in the due diligence process for various types of investment vehicles, including mutual funds, ETFs, and separately managed accounts.

• Maintain good working relationships with Vicus advisory clients as well as service providers to Vicus Capital.

• Work closely with the CIO and other members of the investment management & research team to provide world class service to our advisors throughout the country.

• Serve as primary or backup trader for strategic and tactical investment platforms.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, CFA designation, and series 65 registration

• 15 years’ experience working for a financial services firm or investment management company

• Strong writing and analytical skills

• Knowledge of Bloomberg, Morningstar, Fidelity/WealthCentral, TD Ameritrade/Veo, Black Diamond, and/or Envestnet a plus

• Attention to detail and an ability to multi-task

• A high degree of professionalism and work ethic
