 Advisor Associate Position Description

We are a + $4 billion AUM fee-only wealth management firm located in New York City. We were founded in 1995 and offer objective and comprehensive advice to individuals, helping out clients define and achieve their financial goals. To help support our continued growth, we are seeking an Advisor Associate to join our team. We are interested in you if you have a basic understanding of financial concepts, seek to impact clients' lives immediately as part of the existing advisory team, desire to be mentored by several Senior Advisors, and learn the business from the ground up. Developing new business is not an expectation of this position.

Position Summary: This is a challenging position that requires you to work closely with the firm's Senior Advisors and other Associates to provide day to day financial planning support to clients and prospects.

What you will get to do:

  • Work with the team to develop meeting agendas and prepare for client meetings.
  • Prepare for initial prospect meetings.
  • Attend various client and prospect meetings; take notes, operate software programs, and develop list of action items.
  • Implement and proactively follow up on action items resulting from meetings.
  • Coordinate client situation with client's strategic alliances and manage overall implementation work flow.
  • Master our Microsoft Dynamics CRM software and own any projects associated with it.
  • Prepare analyses and develop plans in MoneyGuidePro software and present findings and recommendations to the firm's Senior Advisors.
  • Assist with client appreciation and/or client prospecting events.
  • Substantially impact our growing firm by protecting and caring for the financial lives of the clients we serve.


 What you will learn: 

  • How all aspects of an established wealth management for-profit business come together to serve clients.
  • How we approach financial planning and investment management and provide service to our clients.
  • How to use MoneyGuidePro and internal reporting software to produce financial reports.
  • How to assess a client situation, develop preliminary recommendations, and at some point deliver them to high net worth clientele.
  • How to ask the right questions at the right time and listen at the appropriate time. 
  •  Candidates that are successful in this position generally have these characteristics: 

    • Bachelor’s degree from accredited educational institution.
    • Pursuing the CFP® certification. 
    • Demonstrate above-average oral and written communication skills. 
    • Live for the details, but understand that you will have to make assumptions at various times and must move on to meet deadlines.
    • Demonstrate superior organizational skills and the ability to perform multiple functions simultaneously and to prioritize those functions to meet the clients’ needs.  
    • Possess a 'no job is beneath me attitude'
    • Demonstrate problem solving skills.  Loathe rote memorization, regurgitation, and being spoon fed.

    Associate Portfolio Manager Job Description

    An Associate Portfolio Manager at Nottingham Advisors will support the firm’s Investment Policy
    Committee (IPC), the group responsible for all of the firm’s investment decision-making. The role is
    designed to provide meaningful contributions throughout the entire portfolio management process.

    Duties and responsibilities include:

    Perform ad hoc fundamental research to assist in the development of new portfolio themes and
    strategies, with a particular focus on macroeconomic trends and asset class valuation (equity,
    fixed income, alternatives) C
    onduct exchange-traded fund due diligence through the use of research software including
    Bloomberg Professional and Morningstar Direct, as well as direct interaction with ETF providers

    Effectively utilize the firm’s portfolio management system (PMS), Orion, to fulfill client
    reporting requirements

    Create and update “dealbooks” on various investment strategies for use with client prospects

    Understand and support the firm’s proprietary trading process

    Support the production of the firm’s regular (weekly, monthly, quarterly) research publications

    Basic Qualifications

    • Undergraduate degree (preferably in finance, economics, or accounting)
    • Strong academic track record
    • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills; ability to work independently
    • Highly skilled proficiency in spreadsheet modeling, graphing, and presentations
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Desire to pursue the CFA Charter
    •      Familiarity with the Bloomberg Terminal

    Product Manager

    Manning & Napier is headquartered in Fairport, NY with regional offices in St. Petersburg, FL and Columbus, OH. Founded in 1970, we provide a broad range of investment solutions, as well as a variety of consultative services that complement our investment process. We serve a diversified client base of high-net-worth individuals and institutions, including 401(k) plans, pension plans, Taft-Hartley plans, endowments and foundations. For many of these clients, our relationship goes beyond investment management and includes customized solutions that address key issues and solve client-specific problems. We are currently recruiting for an individual to join our Marketing Team.

    The Product Manager will be primarily responsible for managing a set of related investment products managed by Manning & Napier.  The position will report to the Managing Director of Marketing and will work closely with Research and various Sales channels. The Product Manager will serve as the firm’s primary spokesperson for the assigned products and must develop and maintain a strong knowledge of product features, including investment, operational, and competitive aspects.  The position requires deep investment knowledge (CFA preferred) and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.   


    • Develop and maintain a working understanding of each assigned product, including investment process, management team, operational features, pricing and cost structure, performance and competitive landscape  
    • Create marketing message and all necessary marketing collateral to support the message. Work with marketing fulfillment, tactics and design teams to deliver collateral to field-facing representatives.
    • Consider channel-specific marketing needs and how messaging needs to be adjusted based on audience. Work with Practice Leaders when applicable to refine messaging by channel.
    • Prioritize product importance across channels to maximize sales opportunities
    • Assist in responding to Requests for Proposal related to the assigned products
    • Manage fee concession requests
    • Maintain a relationship with portfolio managers to stay on top of key developments in product positioning relative to our market outlook and current risks/opportunities
    • Develop a competitive universe for each product to better understand key strengths and weaknesses of each product
    • Present key messages to sales representatives and educate reps on key product features and selling points
    • Be available to assist sales representatives in the field for new business or service presentations
    • Act as the point of contact for PR opportunities relating to assigned products
    • Develop campaigns across channels to further product sales
    • Participate in product development discussions


    • Bachelors degree, with strong record of academic achievement
    • CFA and minimum 2 years product management or similar experience within the investment industry
    • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
    • Strong organization and prioritization skills
