Alec Young is the equity market strategist for S&P Capital IQ Research. In this capacity, his primary responsibilities include assisting in the formulation and communication of S&P Capital IQ's Global Equity Strategy for the U.S., Europe, and Asia. He is a voting member of the U.S. and European S&P Investment Policy Committees, a member of the S&P Sector Strategy Group and is a regular guest on CNBC, Bloomberg & Reuters TV. He has also been regularly quoted in various print publications including the NY Times and the Wall Street Journal. Prior to joining Standard & Poor's, Alec spent ten years as a senior portfolio manager with Ascend Capital Management, a London based asset management boutique. At ACM, his primary focus was on managing high net worth portfolios comprised of large cap global equity and investment grade fixed income securities. Alec has been the beneficiary of a very international background. Although born in NYC, he spent much of his childhood abroad as his father was an ex-pat with Citigroup. He has lived in Taiwan, Paris, Toronto and London and speaks fluent French. Alec earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Grinnell College in 1992. In June 2008, Alec completed an executive education course at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business on Investment Management & Portfolio Strategy.
