Next Generation of Financial Advisors & Money Managers Compete in Investment Challenge on February 17th
On Friday, February 17, 2012 the CFA Society of Iowa hosted the Iowa/Nebraska local competition for the 2012 CFA Research Challenge. The CFA Research Challenge is an annual event sponsored by the CFA Institute that allows students across the globe to compete in a securities analysis and valuation contest. Teams of students from several universities in the region each research and evaluate a selected company’s public stock. Each University is then graded on a detailed written research report and a 20-minute verbal presentation where the students must independently value the stock and make a (Buy, Sell or Hold) recommendation. Participation in this event demands hours of research and preparation from the students, their mentors and faculty advisors; the contest is an excellent training for the world’s next generation of financial advisors and money managers. This year’s participating Universities included The University of Northern Iowa, University of Iowa, Iowa State University, Creighton University, Bellevue University and the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
The University of Iowa won this year’s regional competition and advanced to the regional finals hosted in New York City on April 9-10, 2012 in New York city and will be competing for a place in the global finals to be held in New York on April 11, 2012.
