Tax-Exempt Tact: An Examination of Munis in the New Tax Regime

Event Description

Tax-Exempt Tact:
An Examination of Munis in the New Tax Regime
Are Municipal bonds a portfolio “must” or “bust?” While they don’t often garner the attention of equities and higher-yielding parts of the bond market, munis may be an effective sub-asset class for maximizing after-tax returns. The features of municipal bonds tend to be less homogenous, less efficiently priced and tend to have higher optionality than taxable bonds. To make matters more complex, the game board has recently shifted with new changes to the American tax code.
On Tuesday, November 13, 2018, come join Craig Pernick, Senior Managing Director from Chevy Chase Trust and Michael J. Stafford Jr., CFA, Managing Director from ASB Capital Management discuss the ins and outs, of the Municipal Bond market. Although taxes are boring, laws and regimes can change overnight. Learn about the fundamentals of the municipal bond market and make your own decision.
Learning Objectives:
  1. Underpinnings of the Municipal Bond Market
  2. Tax implications
  3. Supply/demand issues
