2019 Energy Outlook and Investment Trends


Given the recent changes in the geo-political environment (i.e. Middle East, Venezuela, Iran etc.), technological trends (i.e. electric and autonomous cars), climate accords, natural disasters what should Investors expect in the Energy Markets in 2019 and beyond?  We’ll discuss current trends and their impact. Come away with a better understanding about the expected trends, how will it impact Energy Investors and other investors directly. Following the presentations will be a Q&A.  
On Monday, December 3, 2018 CFA Society Washington, DC invites you to the 2019 Energy Outlook and Investment Trends, where you will hear from three energy investment experts, Kevin Book, ClearView Energy Partners, Robert McNally, The Rapidan Energy Group and David Goldwyn, Goldwyn Global Strategies, LLC (GGS). 
Learning Objectives:
  1. Gain a better Understanding of the Status of the different Energy Markets and potential investments directly in them or indirectly.
  2. Gain some insight into the likely trends in 2019 and beyond in the Energy markets
  3. Learn about 1-2 possible major disruptions to the Energy markets and Investments as we know them today.

Kevin Book
Managing Director, Clearview Energy Partners
Kevin Book heads the research team at ClearView Energy Partners, LLC, an independent firm headquartered in Washington, D.C. that serves institutional investors and corporate strategists. In his analytical capacity, Mr. Book covers economic and policy trends in oil, natural gas, coal and refined products. Outside the office, he appears frequently in print and broadcast media, participates in government and private-sector policy forums and meets with top Washington decision-makers. He has also testified before several House and Senate Committees. 
Mr. Book is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is also a member of the National Petroleum Council, a self-funded advisory body to the Secretary of Energy, and a nonresident Senior Associate with the Energy and National Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Prior to co-founding ClearView, Mr. Book worked as a senior energy analyst at FBR Capital Markets. He holds an M.A. in law and diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and a B.A. in economics from Tufts University.
Robert McNally
President, The Rapidan Energy Group
Robert McNally is the founder and President of The Rapidan Energy Group, an independent energy consulting and market advisory firm based in the Washington DC area. Mr. McNally's clients include leading global energy market investors, producers, and traders. Mr. McNally’s 24-year professional career includes senior financial market and official posts spanning economic, security, and environmental aspects of energy market analysis, strategy, and policymaking.
David Goldwyn 
President, Goldwyn Global Strategies, LLC (GGS)
David Goldwyn is president of Goldwyn Global Strategies, LLC (GGS), an international energy advisory consultancy. He is a globally recognized thought leader, educator and policy innovator in energy security and extractive industry transparency. Mr. Goldwyn served as the US State Department’s special envoy and coordinator for international energy affairs from 2009 to 2011, reporting directly to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, where he conceived and developed the Global Shale Gas Initiative and the Energy Governance and Capacity Initiative.
Mr. Goldwyn has been published extensively on topics related to energy security and transparency. He is the co-editor of Energy & Security: Strategies for a World in Transition (Wilson Center Press/Johns Hopkins University Press 2013). He has also authored and co-authored numerous reports on regional energy issues, including: “How can a modernized NAFTA revolutionize North American energy?” (Atlantic Council September 2017), "The Outlook for Energy Under a Trump Administration" (Atlantic Council January 2017), " Mr. Goldwyn holds a B.A. in Government from Georgetown University, an M.A. in Public Affairs from Princeton University Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and a J.D. from New York University.
