From Italy... with Value! - Second Edition

Wednesday 3rd December 2014 - Webinar

Connect now

CFA Institute lays its foundations on the ideas of Ben Graham, who is by far considered the maestro of value investing.

Many Italian companies own worldwide recognized brands and benefit from strong competitive positions in their fields.

CFA Italy selected Italian Asset Managers, who base their analysis on the value investing approach, asking them to present their investment cases on companies that they assume to trade at a discount compared to their intrinsic value. Companies themselves will describe their growth strategies and strategic opportunities.

In the afternoon, we will host a seminar with a panel of two international renowned Value Investors, that will explain their approach as well as current topics.

This event will include two sessions with the same speakers (noon and 6pm) and a seminar in the afternoon: all presentations will be accessible through live web-streaming.

Managing Conflicts of Interest
Geneva - Wednesday 21 May 2014
12.00h - 14.00h
Swissôtel Métropole
34, Quai Général Guisan, Geneva

This must-attend seminar offers a practical approach to positively managing the conflicts of interest that every investment professional might face during their career. During the interactive session, you will hear advice from industry experts, have the opportunity to share concerns and ask questions, then take away actionable solutions to serve you, your organisation and the wider industry.

CFA Society Switzerland is happy to invite members from other CFA Societies to join this event under the same conditions as Swiss members.

This event qualifies for two SER credit hours (Standards, Ethics and Regulations).

Speakers

• Professor Robert Jenkins from London Business School will discuss how industry leaders can put clients first without jeopardising long-term goals

• Hans Peter Rohrer of Rohrer Asset Management will share his wrenchingly honest real-life story, describing how one conflict of interest led to others, how he confessed and sought help to put clients first, and how those clients reacted

• Christina Rulfs, Director of Society Advocacy Engagement at CFA Institute will moderate the session, during which you will be invited to ask questions of the panel

An open and honest discussion of the potential price of making ethical choices and what to do when we find ourselves in a situation with potential for conflict of interest is relevant for all investment professionals.  Staying ethical demands a clear and deliberate decision on our part, but it also requires help and support from others.  This seminar will give practical examples of how some of our peers have dealt with conflicts of interest.

At a time when the public views our industry with distrust, there is much talk about ethics.  We need to move from teaching an ethics code to talking about how to put it to practice.

In Singapore in May 2013, John Rogers, CEO of CFA Institute said “if we cannot control ourselves as an industry, then angry voters and their elected leaders will certainly re-regulate finance to the status of a utility".  Take a positive step to driving change in our industry and register now for this unique event.
