 Volunteering Principles

Volunteers are one of the most valuable resources at CFA Society Belgium

Our society mission cannot be fulfilled without our volunteers’ continuous efforts. Our board of directors being entirely run by volunteers, we appreciate the time and effort required as well as how rewarding the involvement can be.

Volunteering with CFA Society Belgium allows you to play an active part in how the society is run and gives you the opportunity to contribute to the profession in a positive way.

You will also become part of a team of dedicated and motivated finance professionals leading the Society and allow you to develop and enhance your leadership and management skills. This also gives you the opportunity to join global and regional CFA Institute initiatives, allowing you to connect with society leaders worldwide.

There are several ways in which you can help CFA Society Belgium:

  • Take up a Chair and become responsible for certain activities.  Examples of Chair positions are:
    • Scholarship Chair (open position): Overseeing the awarding of scholarships by the Member Society to candidates in the CFA® Program;
    • University Outreach Chair (open position): Establishing and reinforcing the links and possible co-operation with universities and program directors, co-ordinating the promotion of the CFA Program and CFA Society Belgium;
    • Public Awareness Chair: Presenting CFA Society Belgium to the local media, be the main contact for reporters, co-ordinates society press releases;
    • Employer Outreach Chair: promote the CFA designation among potential employers and HR departments;
    • Sponsorship Chair (open position): Developing and maintaining relations with CFA Society Belgium sponsors;
    • CFA Institute Research Challenge Chair: Co-ordinate the society participation in the CFA Institute Research Challenge, in close collaboration with the University Outreach Chair.
  • Join our Programming Committee. This committee is responsible for organizing member events. We continuously need help in finding good speakers, topics that will interest our members, and running the practical organization of the event (venue, etc). The Committee convenes every two months and most communication is done by email. Find out more.
