Financial Literacy Volunteer Opportunities through Junior Achievement
CFA Society Colorado is looking to help Junior Achievement with their financial literacy education efforts geared toward students. Help us fulfill the mission of the CFA Institute: To lead the investment profession globally by promoting the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional excellence for the ultimate benefit of society.
Junior Achievement was founded in 1919, and their mission is to prepare young people to thrive in the 21st century workplace and global economy by inspiring a passion in free enterprise and entrepreneurship, and instilling an understanding of personal financial literacy. JA will reach 125,000 students on the Front Range this year, from Wyoming to Castle Rock. As a result of this enormous reach, 5,500 volunteers are needed each year.
Through a dedicated volunteer network, JA provides in-school and after-school programs for students which focus on three key educational pillars: entrepreneurship, financial literacy and work readiness.
JA has several ways to get involved with their financial literacy efforts. There are various in-classroom teaching programs, including topics such as Personal Finance, Exploring Economics, Career Success, and others. They also have a stock market challenge, and Finance Park.
To get involved with JA, or to learn more about the organization, see http://www.jacolorado.org/volunteers.
If you have any thoughts on further advancing CFA Society Colorado's financial literacy efforts, please contact Brian Goodstadt, CFA (email@example.com). Also, if you volunteer with JA, or have in the past, please let us know how your experience was.
