Through open banking, consumers and businesses can share their financial data securely with third-party providers, enabling access to innovative and tailored financial services. Dr. Christoph Frei will discuss the opportunities and risks associated with the development of open banking as well as potential applications in the banking and wealth management industries.Speaker Biography:Dr. Christoph Frei is a Professor of Mathematical Finance and the Chair of the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the University of Alberta. Originally from Switzerland, he completed his studies in mathematics at ETH Zurich, where he also earned his PhD in mathematical finance while working in the financial industry. Since joining the University of Alberta, he has made significant contributions to both research and student experience, establishing links with the finance and risk industry and developing innovative programs. His research, which includes collaborations with institutions such as the U.S. Federal Reserve and UBS, focuses on risk management and the application of advanced quantitative methods in finance. Some of his work on open banking was recently published in The Fintech Disruption: How Financial Innovation Is Transforming the Banking Industry.
