Mr. Parain welcomed the idea to take part in the roundtable as the regulatory framework has recently been enhanced both for ETFs and other UCITS; he will describe this new framework, including ETFs disclosures, as well as transversal provisions on all UCITS: such as efficient portfolio management techniques and total return swaps. He will discuss ETFs transparency , best practices, and where we are now on this important subject.

Mr. Marbeck will share with us his experience from investing in ETFs as an institutional investor in various sectors (equity ETFs in most developed and emerging markets, as well as in commodity and hedge fund index trackers); he will also describe how ETFs transparency andbest practice has evolved over time and which areas can be further enhanced.
He will also be discussing Af2i’s working group on ETFs.

Mrs Deborah FUHR, Partner, ETFGI [LLP]
Deborah Fuhr has covered and written research on the global ETF and ETP industry since 1997. She is a partner and co-founder of ETFGI, an independent research and consultancy firm. Prior to this she was the global head of ETF research and implementation strategy and a managing director at BlackRock/BGI for three years and held a similar role for over 11 years at Morgan Stanley. Previously she was an associate at Greenwich Associates, the premier strategic consulting and research source for providers and users of financial services worldwide.
Mr Xavier PARAIN, Deputy Executive Director, Asset Management, Autorité des Marchés Financiers (Paris Event)
Xavier PARAIN started his career at the asset management arm of Lazard Frères & Cie before moving to PRO BTP. From 2000 to 2006 he was a member, and then president of the management board of Ecureuil Gestion FCP, the asset management arm of Caisses d’Epargne specialized in structured investments. From 2006 to 2010, Mr Parain was president of Merrill Lynch Invest France, the asset management arm of Merrill Lynch specialized in structured investments in France. He was managing director of Fundlogic SAS, subsidiary of Morgan Stanley, before joining the AMF in June 2011.
Mr François MARBECK, Director of Diversification Investments, la Banque Postale (Paris event)
Mr. Marbeck began his career as a eurobond trader at Crédit Lyonnais before advancing to the role of primary dealer in French OATs in the early 90’s, and then bond mutual fund manager. He joined CDC IXIS AM in 1999 as head of bond funds, then became director of global balanced funds and international equities. In 2007, he created the activity of diversification for his own account at La Banque Postale. Mr. Marbeck has made regular investments in equity ETFs in all developed and emerging markets, and has held some positions in commodity and hedge funds index trackers. As a member of Af2i (French Association of Institutional Investors), Mr. Marbeck also has the honor of running a working group dedicated to ETFs, the purpose being to create a guide to ETFs for Af2i members to address the necessity of describing the most effective way of investing in ETFs after 10 years of development in Europe.
