Debra Purrington is a member of the Trusts and Estates Department at Bulkley, Richardson and Gelinas LLP in Springfield, Mass. Debra previously served as an executive at U.S. Trust, where she mentored a group of trust professionals and was a frequent speaker on the exercise of the fiduciary duty. She is the founder and Practice Group Coordinator of Bulkley's Trustee Support Services program, helping trustees to effectively fulfill their duties by delivering advice and practical help throughout the life of a trust. The program covers fiduciary accountings, compliance, distributions, taxation, prudent investor guidance, beneficiary communications and notices, and recordkeeping on a flat fee basis. Debra provides legal and fiduciary advice, and develops tax and investment strategies for corporate and personal trustees. She also counsels other fiduciaries on the effective exercise of their duties.
Debra is a past president of the Estate Planning Council of Hampden County and a member of the Philanthropic Services Committee of the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts. She has also served as volunteer counsel to many community organizations. Debra is a former trustee of the Springfield Symphony and former board member of the People's Institute. She lives in Longmeadow with her family.
