CFA Society Hartford offers a variety of educational programs targeted both at existing members and candidates. Information about our educational offerings is available here. Our Education Committee is growing and seeking additional volunteers. Please contact the

We strive to give you the highest degree of investment industry programming, which means that our programs qualify as continuing education credit.
All Society members and interested parties are invited to participate in CFA Society Hartford's education program, whose primary purpose is to offer the latest insights into markets, trends, and other aspects of the financial services industry. These events are also a great opportunity to meet other charter holders and candidates.
CFA Society Hartford educational events are traditionally held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. Luncheons are typically held from 12:00pm to 1:00pm with registration and networking beginning at 11:30am. Breakfasts are held from 8:00am to 9:00am with registration and networking beginning at 7:30am.

Continuing Education Credits
Through the CFA Institute event registration portal, CE credits are automatically applied to those members who are also CFA Institute members. Generally, breakfast and luncheon sessions provide 1 CE credit. (Some of our annual events provide more CE credits.)

We recognize that scheduling conflicts can arise, so we accept cancellations with full refund up to the week prior to the event. To initiate this refund, please contact Rebecca Taylor at

CFA Society Hartford recognizes the vital role played by our Universities and maintains strong relationships with the UCONN, Quinnipiac, University of Hartford, CCSU and other educational institutions. We currently host a regional CFA Institute Investment Research Challenge where student teams present investment research reports to local industry judges for the chance to move on to nationals.

How many scholarships are available?
In conjunction with our candidate program and CFA Institute, CFA Society Hartford offers needs-based scholarships to CFA Program Candidates. Our policy is to favor candidates most in need of such financial aid with slight priority towards Level II and Level III candidates.
What does the Access (needs-based) scholarship cover?
For the next exam offering, the CFA Program enrollment fee (if applicable) is waived and the registration fee is discounted down to $250 USD (which includes the eBook). Scholarship recipients can order the printed curriculum at an additional cost plus shipping. Check this link. Access Scholarship applicants should not register for any exam while their Access Scholarship application is pending.
Who can apply?
Any member of CFA Society Hartford or anyone in the process of becoming a member at the time of scholarship application (applications for membership and scholarship may be submitted simultaneously).
Society scholars must fulfill all CFA candidate requirements to register. If society scholars are undergraduate students, they must be in the final year of their degree program.
Scholarships are not available to the immediate family of CFA Society Hartford Officers, Directors and Committee Chairs or CFA Society Hartford employees or their immediate families.
How to apply?
CFA Institute Research Challenge
Overview The CFA Society Hartford hosts a local competition as part of the annual CFA Institute Global Research Challenge (the Research Challenge) in association with the CFA Society Providence and CFA Society Stamford. The Research Challenge is an investment competition among university students at the graduate and undergraduate level. One team of three to five students per university is challenged to conduct an equity analysis of a public company, specified by the CFA Society Hartford. Two teams per university may be allowed at the discretion of the CFA Society of Hartford. Each team is required to prepare a written analysis and finalists will conduct a 10 minute oral presentation for a panel of judges. The students' work is judged by industry professionals. Each team may be provided one faculty adviser that is selected by the team's university. The adviser will be the team's point of contact with the CFA Society Hartford. Winning local teams will have the opportunity to move on to the regional competition in New York, NY in April 2019 and potentially, the global competition which will also be held in New York, NY in April 2019.
