​This panel discussion will examine the key risks facing the European and Irish economies over the short and longer term. Dermot O'Leary (Chief Economist with Goodbody) and Nicola Mai (Executive Vice President with Pimco) will each discuss their views on items such as Brexit, tax harmonisation, central bank policies, Trump's policies, demographics, housing, populism etc and what it might mean for investors going forward.

​​Nicola Mai is an executive vice president in the PIMCO London office and a sovereign credit analyst in the portfolio management group. He leads sovereign credit research in Europe and is responsible for formulating key macro views for the region. He is a member of the European Portfolio Committee and an expert on the eurozone sovereign crisis. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2012, Mr. Mai was senior euro area economist at J.P. Morgan for seven years.

 

Dermot O'Leary is Chief Economist with Goodbody Stockbrokers, a position he has held since November 2004. He is responsible for the economics output of the research department. This role entails providing commentary and analysis for a large range of domestic and international clients through regular research reports and briefings. He is also a member of the company's asset allocation committee.
