UCD Smurfit Graduate Business School is the current holder of the CFA Society Ireland Global Investment Research Challenge. In March 2022 they competed against University College Cork, Technological University of Dublin, Trinity College Dublin, National University of Galway and Queen's University Belfast
The Global Investment Research Challenge is an educational initiative to promote best practices in equity research through hands-on mentoring and intensive training in company analysis and presentation skills.
Each team taking part in the Challenge gets a unique hands-on opportunity to learn stock research and analysis skills from industry experts and to compete with peers from the world’s top finance programmes. The Irish teams are mentored by both industry and academic professionals and were helped in researching and analysing a local company and to prepare a research report as if they were practicing analysts. Those research reports were then submitted to a panel of high-profile judges who also hear oral submissions on the students’ conclusions.
The subject company for the 2021/ 22 competition was Kerry Group
