"Progress Report on Enhancing Asset Management Business 2020" was published by the Financial Services Agency in Japan (FSA), on 19th June this year.
This report highlights FSA's trend analysis of the asset management business for both domestic and international perspectives. Some of the observations in the Japanese asset management industry are; the relative underperformance of active funds on average, the oversupply of small size funds, and sluggish growth in the net assets of the publicly offered investment trust market.
In this webinar, the speaker will deliver the key messages of this report; and also cover how the FSA has engaged in a series of dialogues with major domestic asset managers and discuss potential actions going forward.
MINOWA Tetsuharu, Deputy Director of the Office of Enhancing Asset Management Business, at the Financial Services Agency, Japan (FSA); was appointed in July 2020.
Previously, he was in charge of Investor Relations of Japanese Government Bond (JGB) for overseas investors at the Ministry of Finance, Japan (MOF) in 2018 and managed international negotiations of financial regulations at the FSA from 2015 to 2017.
He joined the MOF in 2007, and his responsibility included diverse public policies such as monitoring capital markets and international affairs for both the MOF and the FSA.
