Climate Change Analysis in the Investment Process" (2020.9)

 https://www.cfainstitute.org/en/research/industry-research/climate-change-analysis

Program

We are in an era where ESG investment to protect the earth is urgently required due to the pandemic caused by the COVID-19. There is an increasing need for investment professionals themselves to understand what the climate change risks and opportunities are in particular. Therefore, the CFAJ Advocacy Committee is organizing these 5-serial webinars regarding "climate change risks and opportunities".

The Japanese business community has traditionally been cautious about Carbon Pricing, which will be taken up as a theme this time, but the tide changed with the announcement of "2050 Net Zero" by Prime Minister Suga in October last year. Now the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry also initiated Green Strategy which includes discussions about carbon pricing positively.

In "Climate Change Analysis in the Investment Process" (2020.9) which we introduced at the beginning of this 5 serial webinars. this, Mr. M. Azlen, who discusses carbon pricing (p32-36), first gave an overview of carbon pricing, and then Mr. B. Yeoh, who is incorporating carbon into portfolio analysis as a European institutional investor. He talks about the implications of carbon pricing for portfolio management.

The aim is to deepen the understanding of the investee companies, etc., and to create a common ground for discussing climate change risks and opportunities from a global perspective through these 5-serial webinars, among asset owners (public pensions / private pensions), asset managers and other institutional investors, securities companies, investment trust companies and FPs and other individual managers.
