In order for Japan to simultaneously realise its commitment to carbon neutrality, strengthen industrial competitiveness, and achieve economic growth, it is estimated that over 150 trillion yen of public and private GX investment will be needed over the next 10 years. Therefore, as an investment promotion measure, the government has begun issuing 20 trillion yen worth of "decarbonized growth economic structure transition bonds" (GX economic transition bonds).
Efforts toward transition finance are being carried out not only in Japan but also in other Asian countries. Such as development ASEAN taxonomy, guidance and foster third-party evaluation organisations.
There are some successful green/sustainable finance cases has been seen already in broadly in Asian region.
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Asian Development Bank will explain the latest efforts in transition finance in Japan and Asia as a whole, their significance and challenges, followed by a panel discussion with expert from Asia.
