Ms. Elyn Xing (Partner, Goodwin Procter) Elyn Xing is a partner in the firm’s Private Equity group and Private Investment Funds practice. Her practice focuses on advising sponsors of private investment funds, co-investment vehicles and separately managed accounts, covering numerous sectors and strategies, including debt, real estate, growth capital and emerging markets funds. Ms. Xing is a native Mandarin speaker with extensive international experiences in advising both Asian and global fund sponsors/managers. Ms. Xing has advised on fund formation and other investment related matters for multiple private equity firms and institutions, including Advantage Partners, Alibaba Group, Blackstone, CDH, Excelsior Capital, Hony Capital, Morgan Stanley, New Horizons China, NewQuest, Shunwei Capital, SSG Capital (now Ares SSG), Yunfeng Capital, a premier global financial services firm, a leading global cross-border life science and healthcare focused investment group, and a major Chinese alternative asset management firm. Prior to joining Goodwin, Ms. Xing was an associate of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York and Hong Kong and Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in Hong Kong.Mr.Yucheng Fan (Partner, Harneys)Yucheng Fan is a partner in our Investment Funds group based in our Hong Kong office. He specialises in British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands fund matters, advising on the structure, formation, launch, and maintenance of all types of funds, including private equity funds, venture capital funds, hedge funds, and fund of funds utilizing corporate (stand-alone and SPC), partnership as well unit trust structures. Yucheng also covers transactions related to Web 3.0 space (digital assets, cryptocurrencies and blockchain), representing fund managers, investors and start-ups, including how offshore BVI and Cayman entities play a role when funds and fintech start-ups raise funds via methods such as Crypto funds, Web 3.0 funds, decentralised finance (DeFi), decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO) and simple agreement for future tokens (SAFT). Yucheng is one of the only offshore lawyers with a Japanese attorney qualification (Bengoshi), practising British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands law. His fluency in the Japanese language, familiarity with both Japanese general and business culture, as well as a legal career at both leading Japanese onshore and Cayman-headquartered offshore law firms, helps to differentiate his practice and offering in the market.Yucheng frequently speaks at market leading events on topics related to funds and Web 3.0 space. Prior to joining Harneys, Yucheng was at the Hong Kong office of another offshore law firm and also worked with Anderson Mori & Tomotsune in Japan (which included a secondment to Hengeler Mueller in Dusseldorf, Germany). He also completed a legal apprenticeship at The Legal Training and Research Institute of the Supreme Court of Japan.
