Mr. Jason Lee Wei Chung is the present serving President of the CFA Society Malaysia. He is a certified Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds a Masters Degree in international Banking and Financial Studies. He has twenty years working experience in buy and sell side of the financial services industry. A former portffolio mananager for a family officer and later general mananger of investment in Amanah Raya - JFM Asset Management. He has also taken roles as an equity analyst and was the equity sales specialist as well as the Head of Dealing of Macquarie Capital Malaysia.
Vice President : Badrulhisyam Fauzi, CFA
Badrulhisyam Fauzi, CFA is the Vice President of CFA Society Malaysia as well as a member of its Board of Directors. Badrul graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Computing from Imperial College London. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and is a certified Islamic Financial Planner.
Badrul is currently the Head, Group Strategy at MMC Corporation Berhad (MMC). Prior to joining MMC, he was the Head of Analysts for global equity research team in the International Fund Management Department of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB). Badrul started his career as an Investment Analyst in the CEO's Office of PNB where he was involved in successful execution of several acquisition and restructuring exercises.
Secretary : Lee Kha Loon, CFA, MICPA
Lee Kha Loon, CFA, is a member of Bursa Listing Committee and Director at VCAP Asset Managers. Besides being a CFA charterholder, Kha Loon is also a MICPA-qualified accountant. He has vast working experience in various organisations, both in Malaysia and abroad. He spent 14 years with the CFA Institute during which he held various positions including Special Projects Director, Head Asian Operations, Senior Policy Director and Head Standards and Financial Market Integrity for Asia Pacific. Kha Loon has also published several articles on governance and shareholders' rights. Prior to joining the CFA Institute, Kha Loon pioneered the setting up of the Securities Industry Development Centre in Malaysia. He has also served in other functions such as audit, treasury, finance and branch operations in Standard Chartered Bank, Hong Leong Group and Price Waterhouse Coopers in Malaysia.
Treasurer: Geoffrey Ng, CFA
Geoffrey Ng is currently Director, Strategic Investments with Fortress Capital Asset Management (M) Sdn Bhd. Previously, he was CEO and Executive Director with Hong Leong Asset Management Bhd and Senior Vice President, Global Emerging Markets at Dubai Investment Group. Geoffrey has also held the position of Chief Investment Officer at Pacific Mutual Fund. Geoffrey holds a B.Comm (High Honours) in Accounting and Finance from Carleton University, the Chartered Financial Analyst, Certified Financial Planner (M) and Claritas certifications. He also serves on the CFA Institute's Education Advisory Committee and as Treasurer for CFA Malaysia.
CFA Institute Research Challenge Chair : Phua Yee Boon, CFA
Phua Yee Boon is a CFA charterholder and he holds Capital Markets Services Representative's Licence for advising on corporate finance activities in Malaysia. He has played crucial roles in company valuation, financial modelling and financial analysis for numerous corporate finance activities he advised, which including open tender proposals, cross border transactions as well as independent advisory for company take-overs and privatisations. He has advised companies in various industries, amongst others, aviation, consumer products, enterprise software, hospitality, oil & gas transportation and logistics as well as property development. Prior to his career in corporate finance, he garnered experience in wealth management with an international banking organisation. He graduated from Universiti Malaysia Sabah with Bachelor Degree (Hons.) Mathematics with Economics.
Membership & University Relations: Justin Ong KH, CFA
Justin is a senior management consultant with EY's Financial Services Advisory, leading the Quantitative Valuation Practice. He was formerly attached to Accenture Management Consulting in Singapore. Over the past 8 years, he helped more than 30 leading banking and capital market institutions across Asia (e.g. Malaysia, Singapore, China, Vietnam and India), Australia, Africa and Europe, focusing on banking transformation, treasury, capital and financial risk management, financial instruments valuation and hedging. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and Chartered Accountant (CA).
Scholarship and Technology : Andrew
Ho Tho Kong, CFA
Andrew has extensive experience in investment banking and privateequity with over 25 years in accounting, investment banking and private equity. Prior to founding Nautilus Capital Asia, he was the Acting CEO for Maybank Private Equity. Before joining Maybank Private Equity, he was Director with Kenanga Investment Bank, where he developed the investment strategy for their in-house private equity divison and subsequently oversaw the investment banking office.
Andrew also has exposure to Venture Capital focusing on the technology sector in the region while he was with Malaysia Venture Capital Company (MAVCAP) and Optixlab, the private equity division for UEM Group. Andrew honed his financial advisory and investment skills in Singapore where he graduated with an Accountancy degree from National University of Singapore and began his career with Arthur Andersen. He is a Chartered Accountant of Singapore and also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Based on his industry experience Andrew is actively involved as a volunteer for the various programs administered by the CFA Institute and a committee member of the NUS Business School Alumni in Malaysia.
Volunteer Management : David Meow, CFA
David Meow is the Founder and Managing Director of Via Commerce Sdn. Bhd. The company, incorporated in 2002 by a group of professionals from various backgrounds in investment and finance. Via Commerce is involved in training and consultancy in areas related to financial management, securities valuation, corporate finance, financial risk management and fraud examination
Having started his career in the banking industry in 1989, he has since been involved on many occasions to advise and trained with several commercial banks and public listed companies, locally and abroad, on various issues related to securities valuation.
He has been involved in multiple assignments for securities, intangible assets and companies valuations.
He is currently the Lead Moderator for Capital Markets for the Financial Accreditation Agency (FAA) and was the Vice President in Education for the Malaysian Chapter of the Global Association of Risk professionals (GARP), the body conferring the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) title.
He has trained and consulted in 7 countries within the region. He was involved in providing advisory and training courses for government–related regulatory bodies including Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and Securities Commission, Jabatan Perdana Menteri (ILKAP), Khazanah Berhad, Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Central Provident Fund (CPF) of Singapore, financial institutions and corporations. Besides training and consultancy, he is also involved as a facilitator for the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) and the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and ACCA programs in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam.
