Monica Poveda, CFA, is a Portfolio Manager in the International Wealth Advisory Team in Miami-Dade County, Florida. She specializes in the investment management of portfolios for our international clientele. Prior to Northern Trust, Monica performed investment research and analysis and was responsible for asset allocation, implementation and continuous evaluation of investment strategies in client portfolios for Allen Trust Company, a boutique Trust Company in Portland, Oregon.
Monica earned her undergraduate degree in Business Administration/Management Information Systems, magna cum laude, from the University of Tulsa. She received her Masters of Science in Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Oregon and her Masters of Science in Financial Analysis (MSFA), magna cum laude, at Portland State University. She has completed the Chartered Financial Analyst program and earned the CFA designation, a globally recognized standard for measuring the competence and integrity of investment professionals. Monica is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the CFA Society of Miami, and the chair of support programs and advocacy.
A world-ranked professional tennis player after college, Monica also worked as Assistant Coach of the University of Oregon Women's Tennis team while earning her MBA, and helped lead the team to a Top 20 national ranking, its highest ever.
Prior to that she founded and ran a successful computer consulting business in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. She also speaks three languages: English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
