Jacksonville University wins the local Research Challenge 

for the 2nd year. 

CFA Society Miami and the other Florida societies wish to congratulate Jacksonville University for winning the Florida Research Challenge!
The team advances to the Americas Regional Research Challenge Finals in Boston next month.

Check out the bios below from the winning teammates, and best of luck to Henry Crayton, Jamie Seim, and Maria Juliana Fueyo in the next level of the competition.

Henry Crayton: Henry recently relocated to Jacksonville from New York. After 3.5 years on Long Island he graduated with a B.B.A majoring in Finance from Hofstra University in May 2017. At Hofstra he was a member of the Division One soccer program, helping the team win three regular season CAA titles and one CAA championship ring. In the classroom he also excelled as a member of the Honors College and achieved a 3.96 GPA.

Henry is excited to be working in the Jacksonville University Student Investment Fund. Learning the practical skills and knowledge required to manage a real portfolio is an outstanding and unique opportunity. He is looking forward to building on his B.B.A foundation through the MBA and DSIF program and aims to achieve a wide range of job opportunities post-graduation in June 2018.

Jamie Seim:  At Wells Fargo Advisors, Jamie attained his series 7 and 66 security registrations and 2-15 life, health and variable annuity insurance licenses, along with the designation of Certified Financial Planner™ Professional. Prior to joining the team at Wells Fargo Advisors, Jamie was born and raised in Grand Island, Nebraska. He attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney on a golf scholarship. After two years, he transferred on scholarship to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he graduated cum laude with a Business Administration degree with a concentration in Finance & Economics., He achieved the "student of the year" honor in 2000. Jamie was "all conference" each year during his college golf career. He then played as a touring golf professional for five years on the NGA/Hooters Tour, Moonlight andBuy.Com Tours. After golf, he managed four different multimillion dollar hospitality businesses that provided high quality service to clients for six years. 

He's currently working on attaining an Executive Masters Business Administration graduate degree from Jacksonville University. His graduation is scheduled for April 26th, 2018. 

Maria Juliana Fueyo: Maria is an undergraduate senior from Argentina. She will be graduating with a double major in Finance and Economics in the spring of 2018. During her time at Jacksonville University, she has been a member of the Women's Golf Team and has been awarded All-American honoree for two consecutive seasons. Maria Juliana is also member of Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society and Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. She is the treasurer of Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor society, the golf representative in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at JU, and has been on the President's Honor List for almost every semester. In 2016, Fueyo was recognized as one of Advantage Business Magazine's Top 40 Students.

Eli Carrazana
Elieser Carrazana is a senior majoring in finance and international business at FIU. Born in Cuba, but considers Miami his home town. He’s a Marine Corps veteran with two combat tours to Afghanistan.
 He’s very involved with extracurriculars including the Phoenician Investment Fund (PIF), Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF), and Alternative Investments Insights Group (AIIG). He’s an incoming summer analyst in JPMorgan & Chase’s Business Management and Global Finance division this summer. He’s contributed to many philanthropies on school, like St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, and plans on continuing to give back to the community by educating young children on the importance of financial planning and wellness.

 Renato Danieletto 
Renato Danieletto is a junior at Florida International University majoring in Finance and Economics. He is currently interning at Concise Capital, under former CFA Miami President Tom Krasner ('96-'98). During his time at Florida International University, Renato has been apart of various student organizations including the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) and the FIU Equestrian club. This past semester, he also co-founded the Alternative Investment Insight Group(AIIG) at FIU, which is the first student-run alternative investment group in the state of Florida
 
Jason Keasler
Jason Keasler is a native of Tampa, Florida and has lived in Miami, Fl since 2013. From 2007 to 2015 Jason served as an U.S. Army Intelligence Officer serving in a variety of positions including a combat tour in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom and also worked for Booz Allen Hamilton as a consultant to United States Southern Command. Since 2015 Jason has continued building his company, AlulA Aerospace, an aircraft data streaming company he co-founded. Jason earned an MBA from the University of Miami and is currently a MSF candidate at Florida International University.  

Rafael Sanz
Rafael was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Rafael is currently a sophomore at Florida International University. Rafael was selected out of five students to represent FIU in the CFA Research Challenge Team.
Rafael is part of the Phoenician Investment Fund. Rafael participated in hosting Investment Banking Rush Week as part of his role as V.P of Investment Banking. Throughout his role, Rafael implemented weekly deal talks where he taught members about current deals. Aside from school, Rafael is a cigar aficionado and a volunteer firefighter.

Mercedes Zhang
Mercedes is currently an Equity Research Intern at Fairholme Capital Management. She is the team leader of five students selected to represent FIU in the CFA challenge. She will be interning this summer in New York at a bulge bracket.
Mercedes is the co-founder of Women In Finance (WIF), an initiative for women within the Phoenician Investment Fund that focuses on accelerating the leadership of women in wall street. Mercedes was V.P. of Asset Management in the Phoenician Investment Fund. She has also been heavily involved with the Student Managed Investment Fund as a TMT Analyst (Fall 2016) Healthcare Analyst (Fall 2017) and Sector Manager for the Oil & Energy (Spring 2018). She is currently competing in the Bloomberg Trading Challenge. She is also part of the Alternatives Investment Insight Group (AIIG) at school. This is the first student ran Alternative Investment Group in Florida.
