Capital Management is a California based investment fund with a concentrated
value strategy around companies in transition. JDP will be hosting a
presentation titled Survivors and Thrivers Since the Great Recession that
explores the business fundamentals of the top performing US stocks as if
purchased at the pre-crisis “peak” in 2007, and held continuously through
today. Their research uncovers the company-specific commonalities that
drove the top ⅓ of their investable universe to outperform by 3X the S&P
500 from the euphoric-peak in October 2007 to now. By studying these commonalities,
JDP hopes to spark a spirited debate on what lessons could be learned and
applied for the next cycle. A Q&A session will follow.

Jeremy Deal is Founder, Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager at JDP Capital.
Jeremy launched JDP in October 2011 with personal capital and the backing of two families. Jeremy spent the first part of his career making electronic security and energy management products--first at Honeywell, and then at a start up called Secure Wireless. Jeremy discovered value investing in his early 20s after reading Rodger Lowenstein's book "Buffett: Making of an American Capitalist" and discovered a passion for investing.
In 2008 Jeremy launched the private-equity predecessor to JDP to acquire corporate divestitures of public companies in transition. In 2011 Jeremy launched JDP to invest directly in many of these public companies because the opportunity set was perpetually more attractive than the more efficient private-sale process. Today JDP remains a vehicle for like-minded family offices to invest alongside our firm's capital in co-mingled structure where incentives are uniquely aligned.
Seth Lowry, CFA is Senior Analyst at JDP Capital Management.
Seth first became interested in investing at nine-years-old by following his grandfather’s mutual fund investments. Seth began his finance career at Merrill Lynch working on an Institutional Investor Ranked equity research team. His work with some of the largest concentrated value funds inspired him to pursue a transition to investment management. Seth is excited about being part of building a fund with a strategy that he strongly believes in.
