Future of Finance: Opportunities for Change and Extraordinary General Meeting

Event Description

Future of Finance

Opportunities for Change

CFA Society VBA Netherlands, as a network of Dutch investment professionals, is uniquely positioned to help shape a more trustworthy, forward-thinking investment profession that better serves society. The Future of Finance initiative has been created to motivate and empower the world of finance to become an environment where investor interests come first, markets function at their best, and economies grow. As part of this initiative our annual Future of Finance event on May 31st will focus on opportunities for change.
During this year's event, we welcome back Roger Urwin, CFA, Global Head of Investment Content at Willis Towers Watson and Board Member of the CFA Institute, to present the opportunities for change in the investment management industry. Roger will share his latest research on the Investment Firm of the Future, a paper co-authored by Roger and CFA Institute (to be published shortly). In his presentation, Roger will discuss how investment firms are likely to face several disruptive forces over the next ten years. From widely anticipated disruptions in technology and sustainability to more uncharted disruptions in investment goals and skill- and mindsets. Investment firms able to amend their strategies to use these disruptions to their advantage will thrive.
Possibly one of the most disruptive changes, but also a vital opportunity for a better future of finance, is a changing mindset. To help us navigate the disruptions in our mindset, we are very pleased to host Stefan Lundbergh, Director of Cardano Insights and non-executive board member of the Fourth Swedish National Pension Fund (AP4). Stefan will take a deep-dive into our behavioral economics mindset. Accepting our human nature will have significant impact on our understanding of the global economy. This provides opportunities to change organizational design, culture, strategic asset allocation and manager selection. Although there are no silver bullets, there are ways to become a better investor in an uncertain and largely unpredictable world. It is all about the soft factor that drives the hard results.
After the speaker program you are encouraged to join the Extraodinary General Meeting to discuss the Future of our Association. This EGM aims to establish those regulations that need to be implemented and adapted for the clear and effective governance of the merged association.  Learn more about the EGM and download the accompanying documentation here
