​The Sustainability/Responsible Investment Committee of CFA Society VBA Netherlands invites you to the first in a series of ESG expert panels.

For the first in this series we have 2 highly qualified speakers to speak about ESG and this very unconventional year.

The session will be open for one hour and twenty minutes and will be in the following format:

- 15:00: Presentation, Nina Roth, Director of Responsible Investment, BMO Global Asset Management

Covid19 has shocked the world, and continues to globally influence societies and economies.  How has it changed responsible investment? Nina Roth – from the perspective of BMO Global Asset Management’s Responsible Investment team - will investigate the emergence of “Social” as a result from COVID19, how engagement & voting has been impacted, and whether sustainability is a key component of the recovery.

In this unprecedented year, markets have been disrupted and investors have had to deal with a great deal of uncertainty. Morningstar’s Hortense Bioy, CFA will share her observations of the ESG investing space supported by Morningstar data on flows, assets, fund launches, and the latest trends.

Speaker Bios:

Nina Roth, Director, Responsible Investment, BMO Global Asset Management
Nina is a Director in BMO Global Asset Management’s Responsible Investment team. She joined the firm in 2019. Nina focuses on ESG analysis and engagement for financials and soft commodities, human and labour rights, as well as for ESG regulation more broadly. Most recently Nina worked at Germany’s development agency (GIZ), engaging emerging markets financial institutions and their regulators on sustainable finance. Nina joined GIZ in 2016 from the Swiss bank UBS where she was responsible for environmental and social risk (ESR) management in the Asia Pacific region, based in Hong Kong. Previously Nina worked for UBS in Zurich and New York, as well as for Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt, where she established the bank’s ESR framework. In 2014, Nina founded the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil's financial institutions task force. Nina holds a Master’s degree in political science (Free University Berlin, Germany).

Hortense Bioy, CFA, Director, Sustainability Research, EMEA, APAC, Morningstar

Hortense Bioy, CFA, has been director of sustainability research at Morningstar since 2018.
Based in London, Hortense leads Morningstar’s ESG research efforts for the EMEA and APAC regions, with the objective of educating investors and providing them with the tools they need to evaluate funds through an ESG lens. Prior to this, Hortense was European director of passive strategies research for seven years. She led an award-winning team that provides research on ETFs and index funds.
Hortense joined Morningstar as an equity ETF analyst in 2010 from Bloomberg where she was a financial journalist. She began her career as an M&A analyst at Société Générale in Hong Kong.
