Event Description

The persistent low interest rate environment makes it increasingly challenging for investors to generate yields via their fixed income investments.

In an effort to address this challenge, fixed income investors are investigating the benefits and risks related to a increasing and/or restructuring their credit risk budget.

During this webinar, Rik Bekkers, Fiduciary Manager Fixed Income at APG and Gareth Isaac, Head of Multi-Sector Fixed Income at Invesco will be sharing their insights and experiences regarding (re) positioning of credit exposure in fixed income portfolios. The knowledge sharing session will be chaired by Jacco Heemskerk, head of investment consulting at Willis Towers Watson in the Netherlands.

Speaker Bio:



Rik Bekkers is working as Fiduciairy Manager Fixed Income for APG Asset Management since October 2018. His main focus within Fixed Income is Credits, but is also involved in Government Bonds and EMD related projects/topics. Rik Bekkers has been involved in fixed income markets since the early '90, mainly within portfolio management roles for global fixed income portfolio's. Former asset managers that Rik has worked for are, AXA Netherlands, Allianz Netherlands and Achmea Investment Managers.



Gareth Isaac is the Head of Multi Sector portfolio Management for Invesco Fixed income. Gareth is the senior IFI investor in EMEA with primary responsibility for leading the Global Macro team in London. His brief also encompasses a wider investment and thought leadership role working closely with the Investment Grade Credit, High Yield and Emerging Markets teams and the Credit Analyst team. Gareth is a member of the IFI Investment Strategy Team (IST).

Gareth joined Invesco in January 2017 from Schroders Investment Management where during his 5 years there established his credentials as a highly respected investor whilst leading the multi sector investment team. His remit extended across portfolio management, where he led the multi-currency aggregate and unconstrained investment strategies.

His asset management and Fixed Income experience extends to almost 25 years, working for organisations such as Newton, AXA, Société Générale and GLG.



Jacco Heemskerk started his career at ABN AMRO Bank in 1995 and held senior positions in its Corporate & Investment banking division. In 2010, following the acquisition by RBS, he switched industries to become managing director and later executive board member of the RBS Netherlands pension fund. Per 1 March 2017 the fund, serving as its launching customer, merged with Achmea General Pension Fund Foundation [‘Centraal Beheer APF’]. Prior to joining Willis Towers Watson as Head of Investment Netherlands, he served as chairman of the board of Cindu International Pension Fund.

Jacco graduated from Erasmus University in Rotterdam and holds a Master degree in Economics. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from CFA.
