Event Description

In 2020 the world was shaken up by Covid, triggering steep downward moves of the financial markets in the beginning of the year, shortly followed by a steep recovery in most sectors. Two other main events - the US presidential elections and Brexit – paled in comparison to Covid.

Consumer spending & firms investment weakened, slowing down manufacturing activity in most regions, resulting in an overall contraction of world trade but on the other side financial stimulus by governments have expanded as never before.

Anton Brender and Florence Pisani will quantify these developments, put them into perspective and picture how things might work out for the different regions and sectors in 2021.
