Jacco Heemskerk, CFA: President
Jacco joined the board of CFA Netherlands in 2012. Jacco (1970) started his career at ABN AMRO Bank in 1995 and held senior positions in its Corporate & Investment banking division. In 2010, following the acquisition by RBS, he switched industries to become managing director and later executive board member of the RBS Netherlands pension fund. Per 1 March 2017 the fund, serving as its launching customer, merged with Achmea General Pension Fund Foundation [‘Centraal Beheer APF’]. Before becoming Head of Investment at Willis Towers Watson Netherlands, he served as chairman of the board of Cindu International Pension Fund.
Jacco holds several non-executive roles including that of:
• Non-Executive Board member of NV OMU, a real estate development company financing the redevelopment of obsolete industrial areas and offices;
• Vice-Chairman of the stakeholders’ body for RBS at Centraal Beheer APF.
Jacco graduated from Erasmus University in Rotterdam and holds a Master degree in Economics. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute in Charlottesville, USA. He has three children and enjoys storytelling and presenting, cooking, wine, running and reading.
Cees Harm van den Berg, CFA: Programming Chair Cees Harm joined the board in October 2016
after volunteering for several years and is responsible for events
. Besides his activities for CFA, Cees Harm works as an investment consultant at Willis Towers Watson. In that role he advises institutional clients on their investment policy. He supports several Dutch based institutional clients as an external advisor.
He is also involved in modeling and analyzing hedging strategies for pension funds, researching the impact of regulations and advising clients on structured products. Cees Harm is
a member of the Asset Research Team, the Eurozone Advisory Portfolio Group and co-head of the Dutch Research team.After his
Master of Finance at Tilburg University in 2007,
decided to combine traveling and studying in Australia and enrolled in a Master Economics at
Macquarie University. He completed his Master with the
Vice Chancellor’s Commendation for Academic Excellence in 2008
, but decided to return to The Netherlands. He started at All Options as
equity derivatives trader. In 2010 Cees Harm
to Willis Towers Watson
start as an investment consultant
. In June 2013 he
successfully completed the CFA® program and
now proudly holds his CFA® designation.
Jeroen Bos, CAIA, CFA: Membership Chair
Jeroen is a member of the Global Investment Leadership Team (GILT) at NN Investment Partners and Head of the Investment Boutique that is responsible for NN IP's Equity Assets that include Responsible & Impact Investing, Core Equity, Thematic Equity, Real Estate and Sector products. Furthermore, Jeroen has oversights on NN IP’s Value Equity and Emerging Markets Equity strategies. Prior roles at NN IP included Head of Global Equity Research, Portfolio Manager of several Global Equity portfolio's and Buy-side analyst for the Industrials sector.
In the late 90s, Jeroen started his career at MeesPierson as a sell-side analyst in the Technology Team. In 2004 he joined JPMorgan in London focused on covering European Semiconductor companies and he moved to UBS in New York a few years later to cover the US Semiconductor sector.
Jeroen holds a Master Degree in Economics from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. During his time at the Vrije Universiteit he was also part of the Amsterdam Mutual Fund (Asset Manager run by students), both as a board member and as an analyst. Lastly, Jeroen holds the CFA charter (since 2003), CMA (2010), CAIA (2013) and CPE (2015) designations.
Gerben Jorritsma, RBA: Treasurer
Gerben Jorritsma (1961) is a seasoned investment professional with almost 30 years of investment experience as researcher and practitioner. His experience ranges from global asset allocation strategy, investment research and actual portfolio management to leading investment expert teams at both the institutional and private client side of the business.
Gerben’s professional qualifications include a Master’s degree in Economics, certification as Chartered European Financial Analyst (CEFA), registration as Senior Invest Analyst at the Dutch Securities Institute (DSI) and a Master Practitioner’s degree in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). More recently Geben gained experience as moderator at various investment seminars and lecturing at both INSEAD and Nyenrode Business University.
Pieter van Putten, CFA: Advocacy Chair
Pieter van Putten (1963) holds 2 MBA degrees from Nijenrode University in the Netherlands and University of Florida in the US, and is a Fulbright scholar. He started working in the asset management industry in 1989 when he joined the institutional fund management division of Commerzbank in Frankfurt. In 1993 Pieter moved to Hong Kong, and later to Singapore, to build up Commerzbank's asset management operations in Asia. In 2002 he became CEO of Morley Fund Management (Singapore), and from 2003 to 2008 he was managing director of Singapore based APS Asset Management, a boutique focusing on Asian and mainland Chinese equity management. From 2009 to 2012 Pieter was director in APAC Asset Management, an Australian mining specialist boutique which he helped to establish. Pieter now runs his own consultancy firm, and carries out asset management related projects in the field of operations, product development, business development and strategic review. Pieter is a CFA charterholder since 1998.
Melinda Rook, RBA: Education Chair
Melinda joined the board of VBA beleggingsprofessionals in 2014 and was part of the steering committee that made the merger possible. She serves on the first merged board where she is responsible for Education. Melinda is manager at KPMG Advisory where she supports clients in the pension and insurance industry to address broad investment management questions.
Melinda is an experienced investment professional, with more than 10 years of experience in the financial services industry. She has a focus on investment management for the institutional sector. From 2010 to 2017 Melinda worked at PGGM where she held various roles, such as Risk Manager and Portfolio Manager. Melinda holds a Master degree in International Economics & Business, a Master degree in Investment management (RBA) and an MBA degree from Erasmus RSM.
Melinda has a passion for connecting hard figures from the financial sector with social interests, such as contributing to a financially stable future for society.
Anisa Salomons: Integration Chair
Anisa joined the board of VBA beleggingsprofessionals in 2016, and is in the merged board responsible for culture, integration and inclusion. Anisa is head of DC Investment Design at NN Investment Partners and in that role responsible for advising internal and external clients on the design of lifecycles. She is part of the Integrated Client Solutions department that delivers fiduciary advice to pension funds, insurers and foundations. Anisa has been part of the Risk team at PGGM Investments and she started her career as a consultant at Deloitte Financial Risk Management.
Alfred Slager, RBA: Vice President/Secretary
Alfred joined the board of VBA beleggingsprofessionals as Chairman in 2013, and the board of CFA Society VBA Netherlands in 2018 as Vice-President. Alfred Slager is professor of Pension Fund Management at TIAS School for Business and Society, since 2011. His research and publications focus on the investment management and governance of institutional investors, in particular pension funds. Alfred is also a trustee at SPH, the Dutch pension fund for General Practitioners, member of the supervisory board of pension fund PGB, and serves on several investment committees.
Between 2011 and 2014, Alfred Slager was also director of the CentER Applied Research at Tilburg University, responsible for applied research projects. In 2009-2010 he was Chief Investment Officer at Stork Pension Fund. Between 2000 and 2008 Alfred worked as investment strategist, project manager and policy advisor for PGGM Investments, the Dutch pension fund for the healthcare sector. Prior to PGGM Alfred worked at Fortis Investments as investment manager (1995-2000).
Alfred Slager obtained his PhD, cum laude, at the Rotterdam School of Management in 2004 with his thesis on the internationalization of banking between 1980 and 2000. His research and publications focus on the investment management of institutional investors, in particular pension funds, their organisation, and management of investments. The goal of his research is to help boards of trustees and directors with their investment and risk management processes. He has published (amongst other titles) 'The internationalization of Banking' (2006), 'Investment Beliefs' (2011) with Kees Koedijk, and 'Beleggingscommissies' (2013) on the governance and effectiveness of investment committees. He was editor of 'Beheren van pensioenvermogen' (2015). His current research project to be published in 2018 (together with Kees Koedijk and Jaap van Dam) focuses on achieving investment excellence.
