Industry statistics suggest that owners of Registered Investment Advisors in the US skew older; at the same time that many firms consider opportunities beyond organic growth to scale their businesses optimally, creating a very competitive market for quality acquisition candidates. As older owners consider options for exiting their businesses, how can they assess the value and desirability of their practice to others? What are the key differentiators for buyers, and how should both sides of a potential transaction evaluate the potential for success?
Jonathan R Foster, president and CEO of Angeles Wealth Management, has extensive experience in RIA M&A. Jon is responsible for all aspects of the operations of Angeles Wealth. Jon has over 25 years of experience in wealth management as an investment manager, client advisor, and in senior management positions. Jon will review the current landscape for buyers and sellers of RIAs and suggest strategies for RIAs to maximize their value.
From 2009 to 2011, prior to co-founding Angeles Wealth, Jon was president of two related companies, Carson Wealth Management Group, one of the nation’s premier full-service wealth management firms, and Peak Advisor Alliance, the largest independent coaching and consulting service focused on financial advisors. Jon is also the former Head of Wealth Management for E-Trade Financial, and CEO of Howard Capital Management.
Jonathan received an MBA in Finance from Northeastern University, and is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society. He received his BA in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was captain of the varsity squash team and an All-American.
