Global geopolitical upheaval has generated a torrent of headlines in recent years and waves of discussion among investors, yet there has been little systematic research into how geopolitics actually affect markets. Join CFA Society New Mexico on October 25, as Seth Weingram from Acadian sheds new light on this relationship based on analysis of a proprietary dataset of shocks and innovative uncertainty metrics. Seth will describe how he considers cognitive vulnerabilities that may distort investors’ assessments of potential outcomes, and discuss implications for asset owners and portfolio managers.
Speaker Bio: Seth joined Acadian in 2014 where he currently heads Client Advisory, aligned closely with both Acadian's Global Client Group and Investment Team. Before joining Acadian, Seth was a managing director in Equity Derivatives Trading at UBS. Previously he was a researcher at Barclays Global Investors, focusing on options and volatility, and he helped to establish and later ran Deutsche Bank’s award-winning Equity Derivatives Strategy Group. Seth holds a Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University and a B.A. in economics from the University of Chicago.
