CFA Institute Research Challenge – Oklahoma Local Competition
Congratulations to the winning team from the University of Oklahoma!
Team members Nathan Wood, Carson Long, Bradley Buss, and Joy Hampton represented the University of Oklahoma and prevailed against strong competition from teams representing Oklahoma State University, the University of Tulsa, Oral Roberts University, and the University of Central Oklahoma. The team was supported by faculty advisor TingTing.
In recognition of their achievement, the OU team received $150 per student and a championship trophy, and will now advance to the Sub-Regional round of the CFA Institute Research Challenge, where they will compete against teams from across the Americas region. Teams advancing beyond that level move on to the Regional Semifinals, Regional Finals, and ultimately the Global Final, competing against top university teams from EMEA and Asia Pacific.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on experience in equity research, financial analysis, valuation, and professional ethics. Students work alongside industry mentors and CFA charterholders as they prepare a professional equity research report and present their findings to a panel of judges. The competition offers a unique opportunity for students to develop real-world analytical, writing, and presentation skills while stepping into the role of research analysts.
The CFA Society of Oklahoma would like to extend our sincere thanks to the many volunteers who helped make this event a success. A special thank you to John Porter of Williams, who served as the representative for the subject company analyzed in this year’s competition.
