Please join us for the CFA Institute Research Challenge in Orange County. This is the annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis and professional ethics. Each student will be tested on their analytical, valuation, report writing, and presentation skills. They gain real-world experience as they assume the role of a research analyst.

The winning university team from each local competition advances to one of the three regional competitions.

The regional and global competitions are hosted by CFA Institute in the Americas; the Asia Pacific; and the Europe, Middle East, and Africa regions. The winning teams from each regional competition advance to the Global Final, where one team emerges as the global champion.

Investing In Innovation: 

               The New Core Equity Class

 

Innovation is the dominant theme in today’s economy and equity markets—and will likely remain so for the next few decades. However, equity investors are not realizing the true potential of this theme.  Risk-based and behavioral-based biases, which have caused investors to misprice and underestimate innovation, have resulted in the “Innovation Premium,” a corollary to the “Value Premium.” In fact, the existence of the Value Premium itself is likely explained by the displacement risk from innovation. At the same time, the modern technological revolution represents a revolution of the mind, akin to prior centuries’ revolution of the muscle. Companies that capitalize on these technological breakthroughs offer exponential growth potential. Investors cannot afford to leave return on the table; as such, in this discussion we explore how investors can best harness the Innovation Premium and the disruptive power of technology in their portfolios.

BRIAN FOERSTER, CFA, drives investment and market insights for Lord Abbett’s growth and international equity capabilities, and articulates timely information regarding portfolio positioning and market outlook for internal and external audiences, including financial advisors, high-net-worth individuals, consultants and institutions.  Mr. Foerster also participates in equity product development and actively monitors industry activity to ensure Lord Abbett is offering competitive solutions to meet the needs of our clients and prospects.

Mr. Foerster began his career at Lord Abbett in 2012. Prior to joining Lord Abbett, he served as Capital Market Strategist for Invesco, Ltd., where he worked closely with financial institutions to identify customized investment solutions. He also worked as an Investment Analyst with ING Investment Management. He has been in the financial services industry since 1995.
