Louie Nguyen

Louie Nguyen has over 20 years of investing experience ranging from global fund management to direct private equity investments. Louie focuses on disruptive endeavors that mobilizes financial capital and human resources to solve community and global pain points. He has a strong track record of profitable impact investing and strategic advising.
Currently Louie is the chief investment officer of Mission Driven Finance. Louie leads a team of investment associates to provide growth capital to companies in need of financing that make a positive impact in the world – without sacrificing returns. Recent investments include using a $400,000 debt instrument to trigger over $12 million of traditional bank capital to build a sports facility for at risk youths. Nominated for most innovative global impact transaction in 2019, Louie and team structured a Sharia compliant financial instrument to support a nonprofit serving Muslim refugees.
Based in San Diego, Mission Driven Finance provides financing to companies and nonprofits doing good for the world but cannot access capital. In 2020, Impact Alpha selected Mission Driven Finance as one of 50 emerging impact managers in the world. Mission Driven Finance's leadership team is comprised of 50% women and 50% people of color.
Outside of the US, Louie lead a group of global investors to acquire a large stake in Vietnam's largest cinema content studio. In addition to making blockbusters, the studio provides training to rural youths and employs over 150 individuals. He has IMbD credits for several Vietnamese films.
Louie has held civic leadership positions in San Diego with the Del Mar School Education Foundation, the Mingei International Museum, San Diego Asian Film festival and Asian American Repertory Theatre.
Louie came to the US as a refugee and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Waseda University in Tokyo and University of South Carolina international business Masters program. He lives with his two daughters (future impact investors) in San Diego, CA.
