Title

Big Tech: challenges and opportunities through an ESG lens

Event Description

Now more than ever, technology companies have become critical parts of our merged home and work lives, with a number of players creating dominant positions in key markets like E-commerce, Digital Advertising, Cloud Services, and Online Search.  In 2020, “Big Tech” accounted for more than 50% of all gains in the S&P 500 and have become a key feature of many portfolios, including those that use some form of ESG analysis.  With success has come greater scrutiny from civil society, regulators, and investors on how the companies are managing their impact on broader society and what this means to their long-term value creation prospects.  We will examine a number of different perspectives and look for best practices on key issues including Governance and the role of Dual-Class Shares; Content Moderation and Algorithm Integrity; Privacy and cybersecurity; The rise of Big Tech in China.
