Hanif has been with Phillips, Hager & North and RBC Global Asset Management for 28 years and is the Lead Portfolio Manager for a North American high yield bond fund with over $14 billion in AUM at Aug 31, 2026, and an absolute return fund with ~$1 billion in AUM at Aug 31, 2026. Hanif has expertise in corporate finance, credit analysis, arbitrage and event-driven trading. Prior to joining the firm in 1998, he spent 10 years at Salomon Brothers in New York as an investment banker and then as head of a proprietary trading desk dealing in convertible bonds and equity derivatives. Hanif earned his Bachelors degree with honors at Caltech and his Masters degree at Harvard University.
