The CFA Society Portland cordially invites you to attend an interactive luncheon talk followed by the annual CFA Research Challenge on February 22, 2019.
The venue is the White Stag (70 NW Couch Street, Portland, OR 97201). There is no charge for members of CFASP.
Lunch will be served at 11.30 am with our guest speaker,Michael McMillian, Ph.D., CPA, CFA, beginning his talk at 11:45.
Michael is the Director of Ethics Education for the CFA Institute, and his interactive presentation will examine real life ethical dilemmas that professionals working in the financial services industry may face in the course of their careers. Join us and be part of the participant voice contributing to a conversation that might even test your personal values, moral beliefs and commitment to doing the right thing.
After the luncheon talk, the CFASP is hosting the qualifying and the Championship round of the 2019 CFA Research Challenge starting at 1 pm. This year, ten student teams from University of Oregon, Reed College, Oregon State University, University of Portland, Pacific University, and Portland State University will present their analysis of Nike (Ticker: NKE). For the past two months, the students have been receiving guidance from CFASP members who volunteer as industry mentors.
The Championship round of the 2019 CFA Institute Research Challenge (CFA IRC) begins at 4:30 pm. In the Championship round, two winners from the qualifying rounds will be presenting their work in front of a panel of expert judges and the audience. Each presentation will last 20 minutes (10 minutes for the presentation and then 10 minutes for Q&A from the Judges).
The winner will be representing the CFASP at the Global Investment Research Challenge - Americas' round to be held in New York City during April 23-24 and, if successful, the Global Final round in New York City on April 25th, 2019.
After the conclusion of the CFA Research Challenge, there is going to a networking reception with an open bar and heavy hors d'oeuvres starting at 5.30 pm. There is no charge for members of CFASP.
