Jane Buchan, PhD, CAIA, CEO, Martlet Asset Management
Jane Buchan is Chief Executive Officer of Martlet Asset Management.
Prior to founding Martlet in 2018, she co-founded and led PAAMCO, an
institutional Fund of Hedge Funds. Under her leadership, the firm merged
with Prisma to form PAAMCO Prisma Holdings, when she retired from the
firm in 2018, the firm had over 32 billion in AUM. Ms. Buchan began her
career at J.P. Morgan Investment Management in the Capital Markets Group
where she was trained in quantitative fixed income portfolio
management. She has been
an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Amos Tuck School of
Business at Dartmouth. She recently served as chairwoman of the board
for the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA) and
is a member of the Advisory Board for the Master
of Financial Engineering Program at UCLA Anderson School of
Management. In 2021 and 2020 Barron’s named her on their 100 Most
Influential Women in US Finance and she was named to the Investhedge
Hall of Fame in 2015. Jane holds both a PhD and an
MA in Business Economics (Finance) from Harvard University. She
earned a BA in Economics from Yale University.
Nigel Noyes, Director, Automation & Data Science, Rocket Mortgage, Quicken Loans
Nigel Noyes is the Lead Principal Data Scientist at Quicken Loans.
Nigel is a hands-on expert in building enterprise scale analytics
capabilities (both as a data scientist and engineer) and has over 20
years of experience in data analytics across
a broad cross-section of industries including Wealth Management,
High-Frequency Trading, Credit Card Payments, Robotics, Missile Defense,
and Astrophysics. He has built three world class big data analytics
platforms – petabyte scale at MasterCard,
terabyte scale at Invesco, and one for real-time pricing of
secondary market tickets. Nigel holds an MBA from The Wharton School of
Business, a MS in Cognitive Science from University of California at San
Diego, a BS in Computer Science from Cornell
University, and a Paul Wilmott Certificate in Quantitative Finance.
Sam Shapiro, Vice President of Quantitative Investment Strategies, Goldman Sachs
Sam is a member of the Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS) group
within Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM). He focuses on research,
strategy and client communication for the broad suite of active equity
portfolios. Previously, Sam was a research
associate on the Institutional Investor ranked quantitative strategy
research team at Sanford C. Bernstein and Co., where he focused on
global equities. Sam graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with an
MS in Computational Finance. He also holds
a BA in Mathematics from Yeshiva University.
Mehrzad Mahdavi, PhD, Executive Director, Financial Data Professional Institute
Mehrzad Mahdavi is currently the executive director of the Financial
Data Professionals Institute (FDPI), a non-profit organization founded
with CAIA. FDPI provides chartered designation, FDP, for the financial
professionals working in the fast-growing field of AI and data
science.is a technology entrepreneur with a focus on breakthrough
digital transformation for the Fintech and the energy sectors. He is a
recognized expert and frequent keynote speaker on the application of AI,
IoT, and Cloud computing
in financial sector and industries. Mehrzad has managed major global
businesses in the energy sector. Mehrzad is a trusted advisor for
global 500 firms in the field of digital transformation. Prior to this
position, he served as
the Chief Digital Officer of Weatherford International. He also had
and a 22-year career in Schlumberger in a variety of technical and
management positions. Mehrzad holds a PhD in Nuclear Science and
Technology from the University of Michigan a Bachelor
of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
