Bio of Speakers:
Kristel Herrera is the manager of the Human Resources Unit within CalPERS Investment Office. Prior to the Investment Office, Kristel was an executive compensation manager with CalPERS Human Resources Division. She has been with CalPERS for 15 years and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Geraldine Jimenez is the Division Chief/Portfolio Manager of the California Public Employees' Retirement System's (CalPERS) Affiliate Investment Programs Division within the CalPERS Investment Office.
Ms. Jimenez is responsible for program and investment management for the CalPERS Supplemental Income Plans consisting of two defined contribution programs and one deferred compensation 457 plan. She provides strategic direction and management for the programs including oversight of the internal team as well as selecting and managing its record keeper and external investment managers.
Additionally, Ms. Jimenez provides investment management for the California Employers' Retiree Benefit Trust (CERBT) Fund, the Judges Retirement System (JRS) Fund II, the Legislator Retirement System (LRS) Fund and the Long-term Care Fund. She is responsible for meeting the investment risk and return objectives as well as managing the asset allocations within policy targets.
Her experience spans more than 20 years at CalPERS. The first eight years of her experience focused on program and policy work involving members and employers with the CalPERS defined benefit program. Her last 13 years in the CalPERS Investment Office included the selection and oversight of global equity external investment managers as well as her current position overseeing the affiliate funds.
Ms. Jimenez earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and Economics from the California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) with honors and holds the designation of a Chartered Financial Analyst from the CFA Institute. Ms. Jimenez is a member of the CFA Institute and the past President of the local CFA Society of Sacramento.
Dianne Sandoval is a credit research analyst in the Fixed Income team covering high yield and investment grade capital goods companies. Prior to joining CalPERS in 2008, Dianne worked in High Yield Sales and Trading at Morgan Stanley for three years in London. She also worked for six years in private equity and mergers and acquisitions at JP Morgan both in New York and in Mexico City. Dianne has a Bachelor of Science from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business in finance and accounting. She completed her MBA at IESE in Barcelona, Spain. Dianne holds the designation of a Chartered Financial Analyst from the CFA Institute and is the current co-chair of Programs for the CFA Society of Sacramento.
