John Keeton, CFA​

John Keeton is a wealth advisor at Covenant. In this advisory role, John applies the firm's proprietary process, Lifestyle. Legacy. Philanthropy.®, to help clients develop and implement prudent strategies to achieve their lifetime goals. John assists families with their investment, income tax, wealth transfer planning, and philanthropic strategies and leads Covenant's advisory team meetings, identifying how we are b​est utilizing and implementing the above services for our clients. John is also on Covenant's Investment Committee and leads the fixed income trading desk, developing and maintaining customized municipal bond portfolios for clients.​

An original member of the Covenant founding team, John returned to Covenant in 2013 after three years in the Houston area serving as a high net worth banker with JP Morgan's Private Bank, advising business owners and corporate executives. Prior to joining Covenant in 2010, John was an investment analyst for Texas-based Frost Bank's Wealth Management Services group. John began his career in the investment industry with SMH Capital as an equity research analyst, focusing on Energy and Consumer Discretionary sectors.

John is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Houston where he graduated with honors, receiving the top student award in the MS finance program. He continues to support the University of Houston as a mentor for the Cougar Fund, a student-run investment fund managing over seven million dollars. John received a Bachelor's of Business Administration in finance from Southwest Texas University in 2003 (now Texas State University), where he graduated summa cum laude.

John enjoys being involved in the San Antonio and surrounding communities where he serves as an Executive Board Member for the Texas Business Hall of Fame, a Board Member on the CFA Institute Society in San Antonio, a mentor for the students at the Greehey School of Business at St. Mary's University, a Financial Planning Advisory Board Member for the University of Incarnate Word, Board Member of University of Houston's MS of Finance, and a mentor for the University of Texas San Antonio's Center for Innovation Technology Entrepreneurship (CITE) program. John is also the co-coordinator for the CFA Institute Research Challenge – Southwest, which is a university level equity research competition consisting of over 25 participating business schools in the southwest region. John was recognized as one of the recipients of the 2016 San Antonio Business Journal's 40 Under 40 and is a member of Leadership San Antonio 42.

John lives in Bulverde with his wife, Kathryn, and their three children. Kathryn has her PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and is the Associate Director of Executive Education at UTSA, College of Business. John's favorite hobby includes family time with his wife, son, and two baby girls. ​

Zachary Winters, CFA

Zach is a Fixed Income Research Analyst at USAA covering commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS). Prior to his current role, Zach worked in Equity Investments where he had the opportunity to perform numerous roles including equity security selection (Consumer Discretionary Sector), manager research, asset allocation research, performance measurement, and ad-hoc research and analysis for the portfolio management team.

Zach earned a BBA in Finance from Texas State University and an MBA from St. Mary's University. Zach is a CFA Charterholder (2011).

In his free time Zach enjoys playing sports, meeting new people, and spending time with his wife and two children.



Michael McClenny, CFA, CIPM


Michael is currently an equity analyst for USAA Asset Management Company, working on the internally managed equity sleeves. Following his passion, Michael graduated from ​the University of Texas at San Antonio achieving a Bachelor in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. Before joining USAA, he worked as a full service Investment Executive with PaineWebber, focused on asset allocation for high net worth clients. Michael earned his CFA Charter in 2015 and is excited to be serving the San Antonio CFA society members.​

Michael has a passion for leveraging investment platforms in order to focus on alpha generating opportunities. Michael has been utilized Factset and Bloomberg systems since 1999 and continues to hone his platform skills and market intelligence to this day. Michael was tasked with developing an investment sub advisor tracking system when USAA's equity funds were outsourced. Michael now focuses on individual equities and portfolio risk controls.

Michael's career goal is to be a Equity Portfolio Manager focused on effective risk management techniques while providing consistent benchmark outperformance on an annual basis.

Michael is a San Antonio native. He is married to his lovely wife Karen and has 2 precious girls. Michael enjoys volunteering to teach Junior Achievement at local schools. He also enjoys flying drones and photography in his limited spare time.

Michael Nance, CFA​


Michael Nance serves as the Treasurer of Catholic Life Insurance where his role encompasses fixed income portfolio management. He collaborates with third party asset managers and manages the Company’s defined benefit and defined contribution plans. Prior to his role at Catholic Life, Mr. Nance worked as a Senior Equity Analyst and Relationship Manager at South Texas Money Management from 2008-2018. 

Mr. Nance attended Trinity University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Finance. He is currently enrolled at the University of Texas McCombs School of Business in the Executive MBA program.

In addition to his role on the CFA Society San Antonio board, Michael serves on the board of SAMMinistries and is actively involved in his church. He enjoys exploring San Antonio with his wife and young daughter.

David​​ is Senior Commercial Manager - Energy with Tesoro Petroleum (NYSE: TSO). His background includes trading, quantitative analysis, risk management, asset valuation, complex contract negotiation, complex derivative analysis, trade floor systems analysis, and procurement.​

David holds the degree of Masters of Financial Mathematics from Florida State University, sings Bass II with the San Antonio Symphony Mastersingers.

Christa Maxwell, CFA®, CIPM®, is a Director of Business Development for Kennedy Capital Management (KCM).  She is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with institutions and consultants. Prior to joining KCM, she worked with Westwood Holdings Group focusing on business development across the western United States. Ms. Maxwell began her career with Thornburg Investment Management. Over her 10 year tenure with the organization, she oversaw various regions and was responsible for client service, consultant relations, and business development. Ms. Maxwell earned her B.B.A. in Finance from the University of New Mexico’s Anderson School of Management. She has also passed the General Security Representative and Uniform Combined State Law examinations. Ms. Maxwell is also a CFA® charter holder and currently serves on the board for the CFA® Society New Mexico and the CFA® Society San Antonio.

Anne Chilton​ is a Registered Analyst at Sendero Wealth Management. She is responsible for portfolio analysis, client reporting and asset allocation review. Prior to joining Sendero in October of 2014, she spent three years as a Portfolio Management Administrator at South Texas Money Management. Anne graduated from Rhodes College with a B.A. in Business Administration and Economics. She was one of the recipients of the 2017 San Antonio Business Journal's 40 Under 40 and is an active member of the Junior League of San Antonio. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with friends and family, volunteering and being outdoors.​​​

David Tankin, CFA

David Tankin joined Frost Investment Advisors, LLC in August 2015 and has over 25 years of investment experience. He is currently responsible for managing select segregated portfolios and analyzing bank credits.

Prior to joining the Adviser, David was the Head of Fixed Income for the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) pension plans and Captive Insurance Company. He was responsible for a multi-billion internally managed fixed income portfolio and allocations to externally managed fixed income managers. David developed enhanced cash strategies given the low yielding environment and liability driven investment (LDI) strategies to hedge the pension's liabilities. Prior to Aramco, David was the Chief Investment Officer and Senior Portfolio Manager for an alternative asset manager, Princeton Advisory Group. He was actively involved in creating customized portfolios that adhered to investment guidelines and rating agency tests.

David earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Northwestern University's J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Northwestern University. He is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) ​designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Christopher Loop, CFA ​

Chris is a Director of Research in Fixed Income at USAA.  He also follows the Oil & Gas, Oil Field Services, and Chemical sectors for the USAA’s mutual funds and affiliate portfolios.
Chris is a graduate of Cornell University, cum laude, after which he served for four years in the US Navy, the highlight of which was deployment to the Arabian Gulf for Operation Desert Storm.  He attended graduate school at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.  His investment experience includes 8 years at Standard & Poor’s where he was a Director following names, at different points in time, in emerging markets, project finance, US corporate and US municipal debt.  Before joining USAA, he was the T. Rowe Price’s Team Leader for Emerging Markets Corporate Bonds in London, UK.  
Chris takes pride in being active in many CFA activities, including been a Level III grader for 18 years and the chair of the Standards of Practice Committee (producing the 10th edition of the Standards of Practice Handbook).​
