The Board of Directors of the CFA Society San Antonio is pleased to once again offer a Mentor Program! We have made some enhancements to the program in an effort to make the experience increasingly valuable. To that end, not only will mentees be matched with a professional mentor this year, we also anticipate circulating a list of mentors who are willing to do one-off meetings with ANY mentee. We also anticipate a "speed mentoring" event later in the year where people will have an opportunity to meet with high level executives to network and pose quick questions. To the extent that you are interested in either serving as a mentor or in being mentored yourself, please fill out the attached application and return it by email to the Mentor Committee by Tuesday, January 17th. Due to the overwhelming demand we've had over the past 2 years, we will be unable to accommodate late applications so please apply early.
Please note there is a separate application for mentors and mentees. For mentors, please check page 2 of the application (see below to download) and note any capacity in which you'd be willing to serve. Demand for mentors has overwhelmed supply in the past so please consider volunteering generously.
For mentees, in addition to submitting a completed application (see below to download) with as much detail as possible. While we will do our very best to accommodate every potential mentee who is interested in the program, we will give preference to members, CFA program candidates, and then others (in that order).
This year's program will kick off with a Happy Hour on Thursday, January 26th from 5:30-7 pm at The Quarry Golf Club at 444 E. Basse Road, San Antonio, TX 78209. We anticipate this being the venue where you will meet your mentor/mentee for the first time and make plans for future meetings. This event will also be a good opportunity to network with other people in the program. All mentor/mentee meetings after the initial kickoff will be at the discretion of the mentor/mentee pairs. The CFA Society San Antonio suggests a minimum of four meetings occur by December 31, 2017 in addition to as many other calls, emails, and/or other types of communication that work for the mentor/mentee pairs.
No matter where you are in your career, the feedback from last two years has been unanimously positive in that the mentoring program offered priceless benefits to both mentors as well as mentees. We look forward to your help in making our third annual mentoring program another success!
Should you have questions about the program or wish to share feedback, we hope you'll reach out.
