CFA Society San Diego's 2020 Research Challenge local finals competition occurred on Tuesday, February 25 at the Peace and Justice Theatre at USD. Four teams showcased their analytical efforts from the following universities: Rady School of Management, SDSU, UCSD, and USD.

After months of researching Viasat, the subject company, the four teams competed for the title of San Diego champions, with SDSU availing as the winning team! Congratulations to SDSU for the win and a special thank you to all participating students and faculty advisors for their commitment and hard work. SDSU will advance to the Americas Regional competition, held virtually on from April 20 – 21, and compete against teams from North, South, and Central America to advance to the Global competition.

SDSU-we wish you much success in the coming months!

Volunteers are essential to the success of the Research Challenge. Please consider one of these roles:

Faculty Advisor: Typically employed by the team's university, a faculty advisor provides guidance and direction to the team throughout all levels of competition.

Industry Mentor: These industry professionals, preferably CFA charterholders, are assigned to the team by the local host to review the team’s written report and provide critique of their  presentation.

Grader: Selected by the local host, report graders evaluate the team’s written reports.

Judge: Selected by the competition host, judges evaluate the presentations (ten-minute oral and visual presentations prepared by the team).
