If you are an investment professional, academic or student, you may join our Society by applying for membership with CFA Institute. Two sponsors are required (your supervisor and a regular member of CFA Institute); one of the two sponsors must also be a member of CFA Society San Diego. If you are unable to provide a sponsor form from your supervisor, sponsorship by another regular member of CFA Institute is required. If you need help in finding a sponsor from our Society, contact us and we will be glad to help you!

There are two types of active membership in our Society: Regular and Affiliate. To qualify as a Regular member, you must have 48 months of acceptable work experience practicing or teaching the investment decision-making process. If you do not have the required amount of experience yet, you can join us as an Affiliate member.

Please note: you do not have to enroll in the CFA Program or pursue the CFA charter to become a member of CFA Society San Diego or CFA Institute.

If you are not a CFA candidate or have not passed Level 1 of the CFA Exam, you will be sent a self-administered Ethics exam which you must successfully complete before your application will be approved. Contact our Membership Chair at for more information.
