Coming hot on the heels of two climate-focused books - Ministry For The Future by Kim Stanley Robinson (fiction) and There Is No Planet B: A Handbook for the Make or Break Years by Mike Berners-Lee (non-fiction), - CFA Society Seattle's Virtual Book Club is on course to discuss, in September and October 2022, a third climate focused book.
Please get yourself a copy of Unsettled: What Climate Science Tells us, What it Doesn't, and Why It Matters by Professor Steven E. Koonin.
This third one is different from the first two climate focused books, however, in that it expresses 'skepticism' about the science of climate change. It instead argues that increasing global temperatures could be down to natural variability rather than human activities.
In Unsettled, Professor Koonin highlights the significant uncertainty underlying climate models and statistics, the limits of technical and political responses, and the need to reassert core values of scientific independence. He takes readers through more nuanced climate science, guiding them through the implications of the evidence presented, as well as providing up-to-date insights and expert perspectives.
