CFA Society South Africa Day of the Girl
Empowered adolescent girls of today are tomorrow's leaders
On December 19, 2011, United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 66/170 to declare October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child, to recognize girls' rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world. The International Day of the Girl Child focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls' empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights.
Launch of CFA Society South Africa Day of the Girl
CFA Society South Africa would like to support this global initiative and launch Day of the Girl, a nationwide job shadowing initiative in partnership with local schools and employers. To launch the initiative, we hosted a Career in Finance online workshop.
Thank you to the 16 schools from South Africa and across our borders that supported the initiative and over 500 Grade 10 and 11 female learners that viewed the webinar.

This is just the beginning and with the passion and dedication of the Women in Investment Management and Diversity Committee, schools and employers, we can work together and embark on sustainable projects to address and change the under representation of women in the investment industry.
CFA Society South Africa envisions this to be an annual event and in the future host in-person workshops by inviting Grade 10 and 11 female learners to visit asset management companies in South Africa by spending 'the' day, 11 October, learning about the industry and having first-hand experience of the environment.
