CFA SOCIETY SOUTH AFRICA CERTIFIED ETHICS TRAINING 

OVERVIEW OF TRAINING:

  • Trainers must meet the mandatory requirement of having Investment Industry experience
  • Trainers will go through a Certificate in Ethics Training programme and complete an online assessment of their knowledge of the Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct (Code and Standards)
  • Trainers will be recognised with a Certificate in Ethics Training

REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A TRAINER:

  • A trainer who meets all three requirements is ideal, but they must meet the first requirement and at least one of the following two requirements:
    • At least 8-10 years of experience in the Investment Industry (Mandatory) 
    • CFA charterholder 
    • Teaching Experience
  • In addition, trainers should be passionate about ethics, advocating for ethical behaviour, and enjoy public speaking

MANDATORY:


      •  Complete the Ethical Decision-Making (EDM) online programme in our Ethics Learning Lab
      •  Go through the Code and Standards video series
      •  Complete an online assessment on the Code and Standards specifically created for Trainers
      •  Required Readings:
       -Ethics and Investment Management: True Reform. Marianne M. Jennings
       -Investment Professionals and Fiduciary Duties. Marianne M. Jennings

The training will take place over 3 consecutive days, volunteers would be required to participate in three day in-person EDM workshops:
Johannesburg:

22nd June 2020: Ethical Decision - Making Day 1 (As an observer)

23rd June 2020: Ethical Decision - Making Day 2 (Joint facilitation with a trainer)

24th June 2020: Ethical Decision - Making Day 3 (Independent facilitation preferably with the lead trainer observing or submit a video recording of the same)


Cape Town:

24th June 2020: Ethical Decision - Making Day 1 (As an observer)

25th June 2020: Ethical Decision - Making Day 2 (Joint facilitation with a trainer)

26th June 2020: Ethical Decision - Making Day 3 (Independent facilitation preferably with the lead trainer observing or submit a video recording of the same)


Evaluation:

  • At the end of each training session, the attendees will be asked to complete a simple evaluation that will be submitted to the respective society and CFA Institute 
  • Based on this feedback, the performance of the trainers will be evaluated on an ongoing basis
