Howard Cooper began his career aggressively trading equities for his own account, becoming a full-time trader in the mid-80s. In 2006, Mr. Cooper established a single-family office to manage his family assets, which were derived from his stock trading endeavors. His SFO has transitioned to global investing primarily in alternative investments, including hedge and private equity funds. He is an honors graduate of Princeton University, where he also guest lectures.
Howard Cooper is the chairman of the board on Family Offices, Endowments and Foundations at Princeton University, chairs the Columbia Business School Program for Financial Studies Family Office Roundtable and chairs the Family Office Council at the NYU Stern School of Business. Howard Cooper is a an advisor to the Princeton Department of Astrophysical Sciences, Chairman of the Investment Committee of Florida Atlantic University, Chairman of the University of Florida Dept. of Astronomy Advisory Council, co-chair of the Johns Hopkins University Discovery Council, on the Advisory Board of the Princeton University Department of Operations Research and Financial Engineering and a member of the Board of Directors of Florida Atlantic University and an advisor to several university academic advisory councils and a member of the 14-10 Investment Fellowship of the Royal Institution of Great Britain.
Christopher T. Battifarano, CFA, CAIA is responsible for establishing the Palm Equity’s strategic and tactical asset allocations as well as directing manager due diligence across both traditional and alternative asset classes. An acknowledged expert in manager due diligence, asset allocation and family offices, Mr. Battifarano is frequently asked to serve as a panel expert at high profile conferences and is also regularly quoted in a wide range of news outlets, from Bloomberg to Hedge Fund Review.
Helen Doody is CEO and Managing Director of Abbey Capital (US) LLC, a FINRA-registered broker dealer and wholly owned subsidiary of Abbey Capital Ltd. Helen oversees US client servicing, business development and the running of the US subsidiary office which currently is a seven person team.
Prior to working with Abbey Capital in 2008, Helen was an equity trader for almost ten years. In 1999 Helen commenced employment with ABN AMRO where she was employed for five years. She traded Irish equities before moving to London to be a FTSE 250 Market Maker. Helen returned to Dublin in 2005 and headed up Anglo Irish Bank’s Centralised Dealing Desk until 2006 when she moved to the United States of America. Helen joined Chilton Investment Management where she was responsible for the group’s European Equity Trading until January 2008.
Helen graduated from University College Dublin with a bachelor of Commerce Degree and Dublin City University with a Certificate in Investment Management. She is also a member of the Society of Investment Analysts in Ireland.
Bill Fung, PhD, is a Visiting Research Professor at the Hedge Fund Centre of the London Business School. He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Maple Financial Group, Toronto, Canada and a member of the Supervisory Board of Maple Bank GmbH, Frankfurt, Germany. Dr. Fung is also a Vice Chairman and a Member of the Board of Trustees of the CFA Research Foundation as well as a Member of the Index Committee at Liquid Alternative Betas, Credit Suisse.
Dr. Fung has had numerous articles published in both academic and practitioner journals including the Journal of Finance and the Financial Analysts Journal. He has also taught at different institutions including New York University and Rutgers and has been a Visiting Research Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science as well as the Manchester Business School. Dr. Fung received his doctorate in Mathematics from the University of London, and subsequently a doctorate in Finance from the University of Manchester.
