Join us on Wednesday, November 16 for a special evening with Thomas R. Robinson of CFA Institute. Tom will review the results of asset allocation in practice, particularly during the recent financial crisis and suggests changes. He will also be presenting CFA charters to new charter recipients and giving a brief presentation about the CFA Charter and its increasing global footprint and importance.

Thomas R. Robinson, PhD, CFA
Dr. Robinson earned a bachelor's in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and his master's and doctorate degrees from Case Western Reserve University.

Previously Dr. Robinson was an associate professor of accounting and director of the Master of Professional Accounting program at the University of Miami. He also was also Managing Director of Robinson, Desmond & Zwerner, a state-registered investment advisory firm.
Prior to joining the University of Miami, Robinson practiced public accounting and financial planning for 10 years, primarily with Deloitte & Touche and Pritchett Dlusky & Saxe in Columbus, Ohio. He has also served as a consultant to law firms, accounting firms, professional associations, and governmental agencies in the areas of financial statement analysis and valuation.
In his academic career Dr. Robinson has won several teaching awards and has published regularly in academic and professional journals such as the Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance and the Journal of Financial Planning. He is associate editor of Research in Accounting Regulation and has served on the editorial review board of several professional journals. In addition, Robinson has authored or co-authored five books, including:

Active both locally and nationally with CFA Institute prior to joining the staff, Robinson has served as a grader and a member of the Council of Examiners and has been involved in advocacy work as a member of the Financial Accounting Policy Committee and the Financial Instruments Task Force. He has been an invited speaker and moderator on numerous occasions through the Speaker Retainer Program and for other CFA Institute conferences. Additionally, he has been involved in the Global Body of Knowledge/Degree of Understanding Committee and the Global Body of Knowledge Review of FSA. Robinson has also served in various capacities, including president and board member of CFA Miami (formerly The Miami Society of Financial Analysts) and has been co-author, lead author, and consultant for curriculum readings for the CFA Program examinations.
