CFA Society South Florida is pleased to bring you a panel of experts to discuss career development strategies. Our panel will consist of recognized experts in the area of human resource development.
Our panel of HR professionals will discuss all aspects of job search and career development, including – interviewing, resumes, networking, follow-up, salary negotiation, and much more. Past panelists have been HR professionals from Northern Trust, Franklin Templeton, FPL Group/NextEra Energy, and other companies involved in the finance profession.

Directions: Exit I-95 at Glades (Exit 45) / (Exit 75) from the Turnpike. Head EAST on Glades to10th/Broward Ave (the first and main entrance to FAU). Turn left into Campus on to Broward Ave/West University Drive. Continue through two traffic lights. The road will then curve right and become North University Drive. Make the first RIGHT, after the road curves, into the parking lots adjacent to the College of Business (Lot 7 & Lot 9).

Susan J. Taylor is a partner and co-founder of Scott-Bennett, Inc., a boutique executive search firm in New York City. The company specializes in the investment management industry and has placed portfolio managers, research analysts, quants, marketing and sales professionals for institutional and private client organizations around the United States. Over the past twenty five years, Sue has developed a reputation as one of the top recruiters in the wealth management sector. In that capacity, she has advised CEOs and CIOs of Private Banks and smaller wealth firms in the recruitment of key people. More recently, she has taken on assignments in the distribution of investment products, especially as it relates to the smaller institutional marketplace.
Examples of her work include the recent build-out of Citi Private Bank’s Investment Management Company, including the Global CEO, Head of Equities and the lift-out of a fixed income team. She has also recruited product specialists and high net worth sales people to Citi, Neuberger Berman, and U.S. Trust.
Sue has a B.S. degree from Miami University (OH). She spent four years at a large global search firm before co-founding Scott-Bennett, Inc.
Jamie Duplantis, CDR is a Recruiting Manager for PNC Bank, and has been with the company for nearly 12 years. She started her career in banking working with clients in the branches, and then transitioned to Human Resources where she has specialized in recruiting for the past 10 years. She now manages a team of recruiters focused on hiring securities licensed professionals for the company’s Retail Bank footprint spanning 17 states from the Midwest to the Southeastern U.S. She has her Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Organizational Management from Indian River State College, where she is also an Advisory Board Member for the School of Business.
Kelly Michaels works at NextEra Energy Resources as a Human Resources Manager, providing full human resources services to the NextEra Energy Resources Corporate Business Units across the US. This includes providing advice regarding any one or several of the following: employment & labor law, compensation, benefits, training, recruiting, diversity, talent management, employee information systems and organization structure. In her position, Kelly focuses on providing specialized analysis, consultation and implementation of HR solutions, policies and practices to address business needs and increase efficiencies. She is also as trusted advisor providing advice and counsel to management.
Prior to joining FPL, Kelly held progressive Human Resources positions in a variety of industries such as Staffing, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Healthcare, and Human Resources Outsourcing.
Kelly has a BS in Business Management and a MS in Organizational Communication & Development from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. She is a Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Human Resource Certification Institute, and member of the national Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Tammy Davidson is Senior Vice President, Client Services with Right Management’s Florida/Caribbean Region. Tammy brings more than 25 years of experience as a senior business executive. She has extensive expertise and accomplishments in the area of advertising, strategic marketing development and implementing solutions through staff development. Tammy is responsible for strategic planning, new business development and for designing and delivering quality organizational consulting and career transition services.
Prior to joining Right Management, Tammy had a long and highly accomplished career as a Senior Executive with Federated Department Stores. Tammy was responsible for managing the largest volume department in Macy’s Florida and provided leadership support for the stores and team. In this role, she was recognized for significant accomplishments in Market Development, Employee Development, Sales Development, and received numerous Leadership awards. Tammy served as a mentor and corporate trainer, teaching and developing seminars for corporate management. She has built employee pay plans and incentive based programs and spearheaded intensification programs that have been adopted nationally.
Tammy received her Bachelor of Arts at Florida State University with a minor in Marketing. Her professional and community volunteer affiliations have included: VP Membership and Board Member for the Greater Miami Society for Human Resource Management, Co-Chair for the HR Insights and Workforce Committee of the Miami Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce Broward County, United Way of Dade County, Daily Food Bank of Dade County, “Race for the Cure” Miami, Florida.
Kurt Adler is Corporate Human Resources Manager for the East Region of the Wealth Management Business Unit and a Senior Vice President of Northern Trust Corporation. He is responsible for all Human Resource activities on the east coast of the United States, including the States of Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, and Delaware, as well as their Washington DC location.
Prior to his employment with Northern Trust in 1997, Kurt worked for 11 years as Corporate Director of Human Resources and Administration for QST Enterprises and all its operating subsidiaries, and also served as President of ESSI, a 90-employee subsidiary of QST. Prior to his employment with QST, Kurt served honorably in the United States Air Force where he was an expert marksman and a recipient of the Air Force Commendation and Good Conduct medals.
Kurt graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. degree in Business Administration and has received his Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) accreditation from the Society for Human Resource Management.
Kurt serves both as a South Florida Senior Banking Human Resources Roundtable and Florida State University Center for Human Resource Management executive member; and previously served as Chairman and Executive Board Member of the South Florida Center for Financial Training (CFT): as well as Executive Board Member, Corporate Secretary, and Personnel Committee Chair for Miami Lighthouse for the Blind.
