CFA Society South Florida is bringing you a panel of experts to discuss career development strategies. Our panel contains recognized experts in the area of career coaching and human resource development. Check out event video​!

Parking: Use parking lots adjacent to the College of Business, Lot 7 and Lot 9. CFA Society South Florida will pay for parking for all registered attendees. Please ask Robert Munoz for parking tag. 

Directions: Exit I-95 at Glades (Exit 45) / (Exit 75) from the Turnpike. Head EAST on Glades to10th/Broward Ave (the first and main entrance to FAU). Turn left into Campus on to Broward Ave/West University Drive. Continue through two traffic lights. The road will then curve right and become North University Drive. Make the first RIGHT, after the road curves, into the parking lots adjacent to the College of Business (Lot 7 & Lot 9).

Panelist Bios:

Robert Hellmann is President of Hellmann Career Consulting (, where he provides career and executive coaching services as well as workshops on Presentations, Pitches and LinkedIn. He’s a certified Five O'Clock Club Executive Career Coach as well as an adjunct Professor at New York University. Rob is also the author of two books, Your Social Media Job Search and PEAK Presentations. Rob’s career and job-search insights have appeared in The New York Times, Forbes, The Washington Post, Money Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, NBC News, ABC News and more. His background includes an MBA in Finance from Fordham University and over 15 years in management roles at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, JP Morgan Chase, and American Express. He currently serves on the Board of the Association for Talent Development (New York City Chapter).
Rob Isbitts is the founder of Sungarden Investment Research, an investment management and equity research firm. Over the past three decades, Rob has managed daily liquid portfolios through diverse market conditions. He created several investment strategies, including the Sungarden Hedged Dividend portfolio, an alternative approach to the pursuit of income, preservation and long-term growth. Rob has managed mutual funds and authored two books. He can be followed on Twitter @robisbitts.

Deborah Koplik, CFA joined the Comerica Asset Management Group as Senior Vice President and Florida Regional Investment Strategist in August, 2010, and assumed responsibility for Texas in December, 2012. She heads the team of investment strategists in Florida and Texas providing direction on portfolio structure and management. In addition, she is a member of the Investment Policy Committee and also the Product Working Group, contributing to the firm wide investment platform. Deborah has 29 years of experience in the financial services industry, with the last twenty years focusing on managing trusts and portfolios for high net worth individuals.
Deborah’s experience includes ten years with US Trust Company as a Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager in their Palm Beach office. As a portfolio manager, she managed investment portfolios for individuals, trusts and endowments. Prior to U.S. Trust, she was a vice president and portfolio manager with Northern Trust in Naples and Venice. Deborah began her career as an equity options trader with Salomon Brothers, and subsequently worked for a Houston based institutional money manager as an equity analyst, derivatives strategist and portfolio manager of institutional mutual and pension funds.
Deborah is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of South Florida. Deborah’s educational qualifications include the University of Chicago – MBA (Finance), The London School of Economics – M.Sc(Econ), and University of Kent at Canterbury – BA (Hons).

Aldo Portales is assistant treasurer for NextEra Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NEE), a leading clean energy company. He is responsible for the development and execution of the financing plan for the holding company and various subsidiaries. Mr. Portales' responsibilities include corporate debt and equity, derivative transactions, and project finance and tax equity for NextEra Energy Resources. Additionally, he oversees the cash management, including short debt and investments. Mr. Portales is also assistant treasurer for Florida Power & Light Company, Lone Star Transmission and NextEra Energy Capital Holdings. He was appointed to his current position in March 2012.
Prior to being named to his current role, Mr., Portales served as assistant treasurer for NextEra Energy Resources. He joined NextEra Energy in 1994. Earlier, Mr. Portales held financial management positions with a leading telecommunication company.
Mr. Portales holds a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Miami, as well as a master's of business administration from the University of Michigan.

Anthony Young is ​a Vice President and Senior Analyst covering the coal and small/mid-cap basic materials and industrials space. Anthony joined Macquarie​ in 2014 after a brief stint as a buyside analyst covering the industrials space. Prior to this he was an equity research analyst covering the mining sector for Dahlman Rose and a research associate covering the mining space at Bear Stearns. Prior to his career in equity research Anthony was a systems engineer for Hughes Electronics and AT&T. Anthony holds a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from UCLA and USC, respectively, and an MBA focused in finance, from the University of Texas, Austin.​

Advance registrations that fail to attend or that fail to cancel prior to 48 hours before the event will be billed at the non-member walk-in rate quoted for the event. If the event is subsidized for both members and non-members, late cancellations and no-shows may be billed at the actual cost per attendee. Cancellations for a full refund must be made at least 48 hours before an event. Registrations cancelled within the last 48 hours prior to an event are not eligible for a refund.
