Jonathan A. Boersma, CFA
Head, Investment Performance Standards, CFA Institute
Mr. Boersma is Head of Professional Standards and Executive Director of the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®) at CFA Institute. Mr. Boersma is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of the CFA Institute Professional Standards, which includes, among others, the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct, the GIPS standards, the Asset Manager Code of Professional Conduct, and the Pension Trustee Code. His responsibilities include initiating, directing, supporting, and managing the creation of solutions and practices to improve the integrity and ethical practices within the financial services industry.
Mr. Boersma is a frequent speaker on ethics in the investment industry, is frequently quoted in the financial press, and has appeared on CNN, CNBC, ABC World News, and PBS. Mr. Boersma testified before the United States Senate Judiciary Committee on the need for independence between investment analysts, hedge funds, and corporate issuers.
Prior to joining CFA Institute, Mr. Boersma worked in a number of areas in the investment management industry including global custody, portfolio management, trading, and risk and performance analysis. Mr. Boersma is a member of the advisory board of Investorside Research Association, the CFA Magazine editorial advisory team, and The Covenant School (Charlottesville, VA) board of directors. Mr. Boersma holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin. He is a CFA charterholder and a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts. Mr. Boersma was the 2014 winner of the Portfolio Institutionell (www.portfolio-institutionell.de) Reader' Choice Award for Industry Achievement.
