Christopher Battifarano, CFA, CAIA
Executive Vice President, Chief Investment Officer, Finemark, National Bank and Trust

Christopher Battifarano is an Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer at FineMark National Bank & Trust. Mr. Battifarano is responsible for the investment process and philosophy at FineMark, while leading the company’s strategic and tactical investment recommendations. He is based in FineMark’s Palm Beach office.

Mr. Battifarano brings 20 years of experience to FineMark. Most recently he was Director of Research for Genspring Family Offices/SunTrust Bank in Jupiter, Florida. Prior to that, Mr. Battifarano was Chief Investment Officer for another family office in Palm Beach.

Mr. Battifarano is a holder of both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations. He received his M.B.A. and B.B.A. from the University of Miami. Battifarano is also a member of CFA Society South Florida.​

Jeff Brown
T2 Investments
As CEO, Mr. Brown works closely with the principals of the firm in providing broad corporate initiatives, specific investment strategies, and operational oversight. As CIO, he oversees the origination, underwriting, and day-to-day management of T2’s investments.  Mr. Brown began his career in real estate in the mid-1990s when working with a national consumer finance company that was later acquired by Wells Fargo. That was followed by his tenure at a Michigan-based family office that doubled as a multi-hundred million dollar hedge fund-of-funds.  Mr. Brown received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and his Bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). While at Wheaton, Mr. Brown was captain of the football team and a 1st Team GTE Academic All-American quarterback.

Joseph Burns
Managing Director, Head of Hedge Fund Due Diligence
iCapital Network
Joseph “Joe” Burns is Managing Director and Head of Hedge Fund Origination & Due Diligence at iCapital Network where he is responsible for leading the single-manager analysis and developing multi-fund solutions for clients. Prior to joining iCapital Joe was a Founding Partner and Co-Chief Investment Officer at Pulse Capital Partners, responsible for manager sourcing, diligence, establishing portfolio guidelines and risk parameters for all single and multi-manager products. Previously he was COO & Chief Risk Officer at TCS Capital Management, a global equity hedge fund where he focused on portfolio construction, risk management & product development. He previously worked at Ivy Asset Management, a subsidiary company of BNY Mellon Corp. where he served as portfolio manager and head of global research in New York and London. Prior to Ivy, he was a portfolio analyst at Soros Fund Management where he evaluated external fund managers for potential investment, and managed a European Family Office portfolio of alternative assets including venture capital, private equity and hedge funds. Joe holds a BA in Political Science from Manhattanville College and an MBA from Fordham University.

Ali Motamed, CFA
Managing Partner – Invenomic Capital
Ali Motamed is the Managing Partner of Invenomic Capital Management, the Sub-adviser to the Balter Invenomic Fund. Prior to founding Invenomic, Ali was Co-Portfolio manager of the Boston Partners Long/Short Equity Fund. He was awarded Portfolio Manager of the Year in the Alternatives Category by Morningstar in 2014. Prior to joining Boston Partners, he was a member of the global mergers and acquisitions teams at Deutsche Bank and BT Wolfensohn. Mr. Motamed holds a B.A. degree in economics with a minor in accounting from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He has 17 years experience.​​​

Vinny Catalano, is president and global investment strategist with Blue Marble Research, a past president of the New York Society of Security Analysts, and author of the investment strategy book “Sectors and Styles” (Wiley, 2006). Vinny is also the managing member of Adriatic Capital Partners, a New York based advisory group focused on the investment opportunities arising in the Adriatic region of central Europe. Vinny appears regularly in the media (Bloomberg TV & Radio,, BNN TV, CNBC, New Delhi TV, CCTV - America), is frequently quoted in various professional publications (Wall Street Journal, Barron's​, Financial Times, Reuters), and is a guest speaker at various major forums. On-site registrations are accepted on an exception basis and are payable with credit card only. To cancel, please send an email to [email protected] with your name, email address and CFA SFL member ID if applicable. ​

Advance registrations that fail to attend or that fail to cancel prior to 48 hours before the event will be billed at the non-member walk-in rate quoted for the event. If the event is subsidized for both members and non-members, late cancellations and no-shows may be billed at the actual cost per attendee. Cancellations for a full refund must be made at least 48 hours before an event. Registrations cancelled within the last 48 hours prior to an event are not eligible for a refund.
